[Stock Craft] R.M.S Titanic replica

Columbia

Recommended Posts

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning of 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK, to New York City, US.

Top Speed: 16.8 m/s

Parts: 301

Handling notes: Generally sails well, quite agile for it's size, be careful to avoid yawing too hard since the ship could roll.

I can't help but notice a distinct lack of lifeboats... :0.0:

Awesome model.

Nice!  I don't think I've even seen anything like this.

I think you should know that if I ever manage to build a submarine with effective torpedoes, I will use this ship as a practice target. Just sayin'.

I think the story of the 1915 Cunard ocean liner Lusitania becomes relevant here:

The real ship had only half the lifeboats needed to accomodate everyone on board.. Well, for KSP, the ship has none of those!

Now we just need a to scale ice berg.

I am now tempted to ram this ship into one.

Sorry, @Columbia, but this boat sinks.

For reals, does it split along the middle, like IRL? You might be able to do that with decouplers.

Heh, no wonder this ship's waterline is so low!

I might not be able to do that, the ship's structure is connected in such a way that.. well, spearating the ship like that might be hard.

Hey @Columbia

A suggestion for fixing the capsize thing:

Have you tried adding an ore tank or two at the bottom, attached to an I-Beam? It will bring your CoM down. I still haven't downloaded 1.05, so I can't test it myself.

I can't test it myself; currently in San Francisco (I literally flew three days after an operation ._.) and don't have access to KSP at the moment. Great idea though!

I got an Aircraft Carrier I plan to release soon and you can use it also for your target practicing too if you would like!

I'm planning to make a special version of my mod, to build a real sized Titanic + iceberg, complete with sinking simulation like the breaking in two. Will probably be released after KSP 1.1. This is going to be part heavy.

Best of luck!

Oooh, the thread's one-star..

Well, I tried it, the ship blew on impact with the water upon moving t with VesselMover onto the water. The ship might be too heavy..
