Issue with ships

RW-1

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon all...

Stock 1.0.5, have one station in orbit, and launched another section to dock with it.

See both in orbital map, yet, currently I'm matched in orbit at about 10km, and not seeing the target station, nor can I switch to it, it's like it's not there.

If I exit to the space center and then go into the map, both at there, and if I then select my "target" station module, I go there and the situation is reversed, I cannot switch to the module I just launched, nor see it if targeted.

Both are unmanned, and have two probe cores (I launch with an RCS "Drone" Tug attached, and one probe core on the station itself)

I deleted both and re-sent up both, same issue, and I can't fathom what's occurring ... Thoughts?

also if you are missing ship icons in map view, go back to the tracking station and make sure the station/ship/lander icons are selected otherwise they do not appear.

If you are missing ship icons in map view, setting the visible ships by moving the mouse to the top of map view would seem most sensible.

But I dont understand "see both in orbital map" ... "nor can I switch to it".  10km is too far for switching with '[' and ']' in flight mode but if you can see both in map mode you should be able to select the other and 'switch to' it; which also means the advice about icons above is meaningless.

Are you in timewarp?  That deactivates many things.

You might have the same problem I've had before. Press F4 to toggle the ship highlight and label. I'll bet that the other ship is there but too far away to see visually without the highlighted label to indicate its position. 10km is also too far away to [bracket ] over to a nearby ship so that's why it isn't switching you. I think you have to be within 2.4 km to do that.

There is an option in the settings menu to enable/disable the ships labels. Let us know if it helps.

KSP has a variable "physics range", but in space it's usually 2.5 km or so, meaning you need to get at least that close to your target station before the game will render it and you can switch to it with the square bracket keys.

Make sure you've tried restarting KSP if you haven't already. Oftentimes minor bugs will pile up as the game runs, thanks to imperfect coding on SQUAD's part (forgivable of course) and will go away again if you exit and restart the game.

Also, as @HvP has cited, you can press F4 to toggle the little on-screen targeting dots on and off.

Frack! That was quick!

I wonder how I turned that off, but it had to be me  :)

I now have the targeting icon, and did realize I wouldn't be able to switch until closer in. Just couldn't figure what I did to lose the targeting...

Onwards towards station expansion! Thanks all!
