What are some good (endgame) mods, or goals to keep it all interesting?

I love KSP. but sometimes it loses it's flare. The main reason being, once I make a few outer interplanetary flights and return, The game is almost "over" (in a sense)..All tech is unlocked, and there isn't much left in the sense of accomplishment to be had. I was wondering if anyone had some interesting (end-game-ish)mods or some interesting goals to reintroduce the excitement? Keep in mind, I'm not talking about making the game harder, (adding life support, etc) Although if that can play into more (fun) feel free to recommend a combination of mods.  This game is awesome, I just want more to keep it awesome :)

I'd perhaps reconsider some of the life support mods - RoverDude's USI mods for example add complexity to the game for sure but do it in a friendly enough way that it doesn't seem harder as such, just different and gives more a purpose to space exploration. It's also safe in that Kerbals deprived of snacks don't die, they just go on a strop and refuse to work until they get their sugar fix.

KSI/KAS offer new building opportunities which can quite dramatically change your approach to the game too.

And I'm always a sucker for pretties. EVE has polished up and plays quite nice with 1.0.5 now, PlanetShine is another personal favourite.

EDIT: As for goals - you've done the Jool 5 right? That's a real fun trip, a unique engineering challenge coupled with five very varied landings closely clustered together in one mission that takes place in a very pretty system. I last attempted back in 0.24 - http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/79820-there-and-back-again-a-jool-5-tale/ - really need to do that one again.

Not done the Jool 5. I'll give it a go. I think I have a ship already capable of doing it orbiting kerbin.. lol As for the eye-candy, I always load up on the environmental mods. :D

Check out the challenges thread, even if only for inspiration, for new things to do.

There are long missions that require a lot of planning (grand tours, Jool 5 etc) and fun shorter term stuff that you can just try and go back to later to try and do better.  The only limits are your imagination, desire and patience.

I never did Jool 5 either, should really try that.

Anyway, not only using life support, but also Kerbal Construction Time has changed a lot my game. I skip time a lot more, have to be more patient, and need to build backups and rescue missions and store them beforehand if I'll need quick response. Not for everyone, but worth a try!

Personally, I like the "Up Free" config, which doesn't require you to use the mod's level-up system, relying on the stock building levels instead. Less hassle to learn and play.

you could try the Outer Planets Mod. it adds some missing (solarsystem) planets beyond jool

Already have it. ;)

Even though I don't personally use it, you should try the "Interstellar Extended" mod: AFAIK it is pretty big and adds a lot to the game.

I'll look into Extended. I used KSPI previously, and I did enjoy it. Currently I've been playing around with infernal robotics, building paddle boats........ that go 60 mps.. lol
