TP Presents: Budgetlifters!

Recommended Posts

This is what I get when I combine 4 hours of playing, around half a litter of coffee and a lot of concentrated effort. This is the beginning of a series of rockets which I am currently working with 3 clear goals in mind:

1) Costs have to be as low as possible.

2) Part count has to make sense, kept as low as possible.

3) Weight while not a determining factor, influences everything else.

You get the general jest here.

Series 1 LKO Rocket.
2.25 tons into LKO. (D:70-75km)
34 parts - 31.6 tons total on platform.
11.785 spacebucks.
- The "FL-T400" mock payload.

The very first in a series of standard rockets, following a linar payload capacity.

Creators note(s):
-Maybe a bit of weight could also be saved if you fiddled with the areoshell shape, dunno.
- Some dV/weight could be save if you adjust the fuel in the final stage to advoid fuel leftovers once you hit your obit.
- A proper launch profile/ascent profile could help the total dV/weight left once you are in orbit.

Here is a video of the launch profile/ascent profile.

I don't know why the hell YouTube is screwing up the video, I recorded it at 60fps, lossless but now its 360. Pff...

It's really dead here at the moment, after christmas and with a new version out in a few weeks, it will pick up again. Also a low tech, low part count starter rocket is not really where the people currently here are at. With the new version we will get a few new people who will be looking for career starters. Replica's with huge part counts, stock bearings and machines, and impressive trips are what gets attention at the moment.

Yeah The non-selfless meme man is correct, this part of the forum is very quiet after the update. And I know LOTS of 'big name' builders who are not happy with the terrible performance of this version of the game and they are waiting for thier Kod and saviour 1.1. We live in hope. And fear..

I hear you. Even my incredibly minimalistic build style is running into issues when I let go and start legoing like I enjoy (I do build 500 part stuff, I just do so out of 50 part files with a lot of docking! ;)), and I must have been the guy that was best prepared for a KSP that runs this bad. Still, I can only play it because of the increased memory available on OpenGL.

P.S: also, rocket parts revamp re-confirmed in this week's dev notes for post-1.1, FYI, including mention of a variable-diameter attachment node for engines.

Rune. Let the 1.1 performance upgrades be all they are hoped to be!

Yeah I saw that the other day. Good news, do a good job Porkjet!

A return to 0.90 performance would be great.
