Bad performance on rMBP 2015 13"

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

I'm having trouble getting a reasonable fps on my new Macbook Pro Retina 2015 13". My specs:

  • 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
  • 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 memory
  • 128GB PCIe-based flash storage1
  • Intel Iris Graphics 6100

  • I'm getting only about 20 fps when running the game. Screenshot of my settings: http://i.imgur.com/JsmPyTC.png. I'm also not able to select a resolution that's higher than 1440x900.

  • Thanks in advance

Hey man, looking at your settings you have the pixel light count and shadow cascades set too high. Turn them both WAY down. I have a very fast system and I cannot turn these up higher than half so put them near the bottom. It makes little visual difference but a MASSIVE FPS saving.

Let me know if that helped.

I turned the settings down to zero and now I've got around 27 fps when looking over the space facility. It's not very smooth but at least it's playable. Thanks! I thought I would at least be able to play it with 30 fps but it seems not.

Ok good, that is a start. Boring stuff: Check all drivers, programs in background ect.

I've checked my drivers, it's Apple so there's only one button to update all of your drivers & OS. I'm fully updated. Steam and KSP aswell. There aren't a lot of apps running in the background, only F.lux (an app to control brightness and excrements), Spotify, and Dropbox. I don't think those apps really affect performance that much. I'm not having such a bad performance in i.e. League of Legends. That game isn't very demanding but I can run it on my native resolution with the settings on High.
Thanks for helping me!

No problem, I know how annoying performance issues can be. Does performance drop a lot when in-game in say a 200 part craft?

Except that bad performance, no crashes/freezes on scene change?

I haven't played much because of the bad performance but no I haven't seen any freezes or crashes. I can't seem to be able to play it in fullscreen though. My dock pops up when I move my cursor to the bottom.
