That feeling

It may just be me being crazy, but does anyone remember, when they first bought ksp, having this strange but very satisfying feeling when they docked two space station modules together, or landed on the mun or another body, or watched their overcomlicated-but-undeniably-awesome exploration vehicle take to the skies?

It was kind of a mix of wonder and pride.

Sometimes when i view beginner threads or threads of the old days of ksp, i get that feeling again. :)

I have to say, I think KSP is the only game where that feeling happens.

I happens in other games.  Like in Dwarf Fortress when you make your first caravan drowning trap that doesn't wash away all the goods.

I remember that, most especially the misleading "docking mode" and how hard it made docking.  Things got so much easier when I went "dual stick".

Does that actually work? I was wondering if I should connect my second flight stick and try docking that way.

Anyway, my biggest accomplishment was when I rendezvoused two separately launched vessels before docking was a thing. I eyeballed it and it felt amazing.

I was more referencing using the additional keyboard controls for translation, but if you have two three-axis joysticks that would be ideal for docking.

Yeah.  The first orbit, Mun landing and docking in particular are incredible milestones that gave me a huge buzz.

When a newcomer posts about achieving the same things I feel their pride too,  and remember when I was in their shoes.

I couldn't have said it better myself :)
