That is so cool! What mod did you use for the moving wings?

Also, what do the wings actually do? On take off the wide wings increase lift, so at high speeds they become narrow to reduce drag, am i correct?

Basically.

You'd want them out when flying low and slow. Then they get tucked back in for high speed or supersonic flight.

It also makes them easy to store on an aircraft carrier deck.

Variable wings are cool in real life but as far i know wing angle doesnt effect anything in ksp (same wing part with different angle) But if you use Far, it'd be more useful.

Wing angle will affect center of lift.

As far as aerodynamically, yeah it might not change anything in stock KSP.

I doubt he's looking for any performance increase out of it, more likely he just wanted to faithfully recreate the look and feel of the actual planes.
