Weird shadows

Hey guys,

I'm hoping one of you has seen this before or knows what is causing it.  I haven't played KSP in a long time so this may be normal. but I don't remember this and don't notice it in other people's videos of ksp.

I have what looks like weird shadows running up my ships in waves.  I have turned just about every setting on/off in ksp and nvidia trying to fix this. The waves go away when I highlight the part and turning shadow cascades up makes it worse and more visible.  Here is a short 1m (no ad) video of what I'm talking about:

This is driving me mad and it's all I can focus on while playing right now...  This is un-modded at this point.  Does anyone have any idea on what setting may be causing this?

Hi all, I.ve looked around a bit and could not find if this was problem was fixed?   I just fresh install 1.2 (64) and I see the waving shadows..  on my ships on the launch pad also.   even when I set "Shadow Cascades" to 0.

Anybody kows if there is a fix, or setting/s that fixes this?

Thanks.

All games with a day/night cycle have this. The shadows in other games get around it by updating their positions every few (milli)seconds. Since KSP's world is an actual star system in constant motion with all the objects tracked constantly, the shadows update in realtime (or near enough), making them shimmer. If you have the Scatterer mod you'll be able to increase the shadow biases to mitigate this effect, but inflating these enough to make it go away completely messes up the positioning of shadows in another way (they will be offset away from the object casting them, leaving a gap between ground contact and the shadow).
