Not to be an jerk, but the "Oh look, X player has a perfect game, whaddayaknow, it makes my unplayable experience so much better, less buggy and crash less" posts are really obnoxious. It's not just you, a lot of people have been saying this. It honestly is just more frustrating for those of us that can't even make it past the loading screen, so I think this needs to be put out there: One person having a great experience doesn't make 50 terrible experiences any better, no offense to anyone in particular, it's just really annoying. :(

--EDIT--

To be clear, I mean that posts saying "My game runs just fine" posts are the annoying ones, and there isn't really any good response to them other than "good for you" or "That helps me how again".

Agreed, but I feel the same way about "I quit" posts (extra points for using a giant font).

If you wanna stop playing KSP, fine, thats the way life goes, theres several titles on my steam list that have been dropped. I didn't feel the need to announce it to anyone. KSP isn't special in this regard, its not even that expensive. Its special only because it is so good, or to be fair to those suffering the worst of the bugs - it has the potential to be so good.

Like you say, how does it help?

@Xyphos I hope you don't quit permanently, come back in a while, play something else for a bit, with a bit of luck you'll have some nice stuff waiting for you on your return.

Hey come on guys, @Xyphos is a valued member of this community. There must be a valid reason for he/she to stop playing KSP so no need to be meanies about it.

Sorry to hear you are having problems Xyphos, perhaps you could post a report in the bug reports and maybe you can get a solution and if you are lucky recover your craft.

It helps you by suggesting that there may actually be something wrong with your PC set up rather than the game itself. A simple delete and reinstall may fix the issue, or it could be your anti-virus causing havoc, or the graphics driver needs updating.

Sure, we hear of a few people having problems with game crashes but the vast majority of people just aren't having those issues. For the vast majority, the game plays fine.

My computer ran 1.1.1 just fine, but 1.1.2 usually dies whenever I try to boot it up. For me, it seems to change between startups.

I'd suggest a delete and reinstall.

I'm not content with the situation since 1.1, and i just don't play ksp right now (because of bugs and partly because of squads attitude towards removing them). But i wouldn't shout it out loud if i'd really quit and bother others with my decision. The danger of loosing my face when crawling back one day is too high.

Like with a girlfriend, i wouldn't make a big scene i'd just hit the road.

I've said it numerous times before, I don't quite get peoples complaints, 1.1.2 works pretty well for me. Even the wheels work, they are a bit "jumpy" and such, but not so bad that it can't be worked around. The only crashes I experience are in VAB, I barely had any crashes there before I installed any mods, and now with 3 relatively big mods installed it's still far from unplayable. Outside of VAB SPH the game runs beautifully, no crashes and good FPS even when I'm launching a craft the size of a small city block.

I don't see why so many people are having really bad problems

Nobody does. That's why it's so aggravating. We haven't even really got to the bottom of why KSP 1.1.2 crashes lots for some people and not for others, so there's barely a glimmer of a hope of a solution.

My own suspicion is that there are race conditions in the multithreaded code. Which makes it pretty much a lottery, seemingly inconsequential variation in hardware or software could make the difference between stable and crash.

First,  I was having bad symmetry issues in 1.05. I had this one design that made the game crazy.

I built it over and over a dozen times, It would start to act weird in the VAB and then I would put it on the pad, do a save and load, and half the ship was missing. I eventually concluded that the VAB/SPH is buggy and will let you build a ship that the game can't play. In short we build the Kraken into our own ships and take him with us!

The workaround was using other construction methods:

Avoid multiple type of symmetry on the same ship and NEVER on the same part. (use three pairs of mirror,  instead of one six-way radial)

Using alt-click to drag copies of parts can ruin the model, drag new parts from the sidebar.

Never rotate the root part

Do a paranoid number of incremental saves during construction.

Test the incremental saves by putting the ship on the pad (or runway) and doing a save and reload.

And if ANYTHING acts  funny in the VAB (ie struts reaching out in asymmetrical ways) I stop, exit the VAB, and go back to an earlier save.

(But if the game was solid, I wouldn't have to do ant of that)

That said, I don't get "Please stop complaining about the bugs" thing.

When KSP was in pre-release we all put up the bugs, that was OK. But we're past 1.0 now and Squad really has to straighten up and fly right. If they rush out too many buggy builds they can ruin KSP.  People will stop playing it, it will stop making money, and KSP will be no more. This is serious.  They need to re-vamp (or perhaps create) their beta-testing dept. and procedures. And they need to stop releasing this stuff before its solid. And you really can't argue with that.

I have a feeling that if Microsoft released a Windows patch that totally froze three quarters of the computers in the world, there would be people on this forum saying, "I don't know what your problem is, my computer is fine, I wish you all would stop complaining."

Sad to see you go, @Xyphos. The reason you quit are the same reasons I'm still playing my 1.0.4 save. (That and I have a lot of unfinished business in it.)

My two cents: dig though your hard drive and see if you can find an older save (1.0.5 perhaps?) and play that. If not, just play another space related game until 1.1.3 comes out.

In the mean time, Fly Safe!

Yep.  1.1.2 is indeed badly broken.  From people running stock, to modded installs, the game has not been functioning as expected.  Now for me the game runs just fine, and I only run 4 or 5 mods, compared to back in 1.0.5, in which my gamedata folder was loaded with things, all of which seem in hindsight unnecessary.  I would say try uninstalling mods, but some people are experiencing crashes either way, so I don't expect that that would necessarily be applicable in a case like this.

Many have made the argument that the switch to a new engine is long and difficult, therefore we should give Squad a break.  I myself heavily disagree with that.  If for many their is nought more than a broken stock product, then the people who made it, rather than go on vacation, should fix the product as soon as possible.  Though, when more often then not people give the developers a break, it gives a more than unnecessary amount of room to make mistakes, and rather than fix the major issues in due time, they instead take their time, making the customer wait longer to have a working product.

I do expect that KSP in the up and coming updates will be fully functional in the following updates, but in the meantime, I recommend that the people having issues revert back to 1.0.5, or attempt to troubleshoot the issues and see if any positive results can be obtained from that.

my point was that the symmetry issues the OP complained about were in 1.05

I've decided I'm quitting KSP for a while, the problems in 1.1.2 have made this game unplayable.

the final straw that broke me was the symmetry glitch on a vessel that I've spent 2 hours building, the game crashes, I load back up and the load screen just hangs there with my vessel loaded but unmanageable I can't click anything and it's all for naught.

it's just as well, cuz the thing probably would have randomly exploded for no given reason anyway.

I QUIT.

Dude in future every time you save the craft save it twice under a different name. Even though I have been lucky for a while this has saved hours of work before.

Not to disparage xyphos or why they have quit but they have only been on the forum since march 15th and it`s only may now. That`s about 2 months.

Umm.. How about no?

I don`t want the forum to be a place where the only posts are complaints. This is not a thread for people to list their problems, this is someone deciding to quit KSP.

To be fair it was March 2015, but still.

Its not like there isn't always an interesting topic or two to look over in the various fora, so unless he's throwing out his router and cancelling his ISP, I still dunno why these posts are a thing.

I crashed my lander into Moho yesterday.  And I will probably crash another one tonight

All these crashes really tick me off.

I blame Jeb, I took a lander to Minmus again, Jeb walked into one on the landing legs and the leg exploded, I didn't mind, it all adds to the drama of Kerbal space travel. :)

I only had one crash, once I removed a certain mod it seemed to sole the problem, no crashes since,

To everybody saying they don't get 'I quit' posts, 'I'm sick of bugs' posts and even 'here's a poll about the bugs' posts:

Get down off your ivory pedestals, put yourselves in the shoes of those posting them for a second, and understand that not everybody lives in the perfect fantasy land where everything works all the time, they live in the real dirty, broken world where things that let you down when you're putting in a lot of effort are outrageously frustrating. Posts composed while ticked off will always seem rage-ier than posts composed when everything's hunkydory.

If your game is working 100% fine, that's lovely but NOBODY CARES.

"I quit" posts are a cry of frustration and an appeal for sympathy, but IMO, it just makes the poster look immature. It's better to take some time to cool off and then calmly report the problem. I'm sorry, but I can't spare any sympathy for this kind of outburst as I really don't condone it in the first place.

So your mature response is to dump a post of indignation and point out how childish the OP is? Maybe the guy IS immature (this isn't an adult-only community), who are you to judge them for that? If people want sympathy why can't you just be a grown up and give it to them?

Yes, and the "1.1.2 is broken! Fix it! or I quit!" is getting old, too. What good is yet another thread about 1.1.2 being broken going to do? I think it's pretty obvious 1.1.2 is broken for some people.

Because *fishing* for sympathy is....not good. And it is not good to encourage that kind of thing either.

So the mature thing to do would be to what... just agree with him? In this "dirty, imperfect world" there are a variety of opinions out there, so could you tell me how I could have disagreed in a more mature manner? This is a first world problem. It's a video game not working as intended. It doesn't warrant throwing a tantrum.

I work in IT, and I see IT technicians throw fits when they encounter a problem they can't solve. Trust me, they are NOT earning any points with their bosses or customers when they act that way. You either control your emotions or your emotions control you.

@p1t1o How is it bad? I mean really, if you disapprove, why the compulsion to say so? It's not productive, helpful or kind, so why can't you resist the compulsion to post that any more than the OP resists the compulsion to vent a little frustration? Hypocrisy everywhere...

@Xavven I'm no expert on maturity (god knows I get pretty immature about things sometimes), but you actually don't need to give any response to this at all. The fact that you decide to is a mark of your own need to make a noise, just as @Xyphos is expressing that need with his OP. If you disagree with his need for expression, I don't think you have the prerequisite experience of his problems to make that judgement.

This isn't work, it's socialising/recreation. Nobody needs to score any points at all.

"I quit" posts are a cry for help.

They are a warning to the Devs that they have pushed their user base beyond tolerance. For every guy complaining there are a dozen more just quietly giving up and while that may make your forum a prettier place, for KSP it spells DOOM.

/hey, maybe I should go play DOOM.

If you have a problem with my disapproval, then why don't you apply that logic to your post? You're doing the exact same thing I am. Hypocrisy everywhere indeed.
