It's known that they hit one million, after that it was removed from Steam Spy (perhaps a minimum threshold for that).

That was over a year ago. Add additional channels (the Squad webstore, GOG, others) and “one year later” and it's reasonable to estimate 1.5M, perhaps even 2M

Yeah, Squad asked their stats not to be listed.

They've never given an official reason, but I think it was unofficially said they felt unsafe to become widely known as rich in Mexico City.

Why not just read steam reviews? Most are honest and genuine,

Ignore the ones with the

"WOULD (something stupid) AGAIN!!"

These people have no place in the realworld and opinions based on a meme deem them unsuitable to use a digital distribution platform thats astronomicly beyond thier understanding

Or put simply..

They count to potato

Not everyone's first language is English.

While true, it doesn't affect how easy or hard it is to read the post. I got the gist, but it was still quite difficult to read. And this IS an English speaking website.

I guess if you compare it to games like CoD etc. then it most probably isn't as 'successful' in terms of sales as many of them.  But I would say that well over a million (and possibly 2 million plus) copies sold is far from a failure, especially for the first game from a small indie company, if squad considered it to be 'not successful' then they simply wouldn't continue to develop it.

Actually, SteamSpy developer said he will remove any game's statistics from his service if the developer contacts him and requests that, no thresholds and no questions asked. Some companies apart from Squad (mostly Japanese, curiously enough) have done so.

Yes, but we should not be hasty to judge those that can, or are learning English. I know its hard at times, but I got the gist of it easily, but then, I speak three languages anyhow. The more they speak/type English, the better they will become. We should support them. That post was nothing compared to another one I saw, and when I saw his location was the USA, well, I felt like making a comment but bit my tongue. It takes all kinds to make a forums, even ones which is supposedly English speaking. :) My wife is Dutch, she knows 5 languages... and to be honest, she speaks better English than most New Zealanders (Kiwi's) do.

In many ways, I too am curious about how many licences or "games" have been sold. But given the political situation in Mexico with the drug cartels ... I can see why they would want to be cautious. End of the day, you can sort of gauge the popularity of a game by how many use a games forums, and from which parts of the world they post from.

Lets say.... KSP is very popular.

Let's not belittle other users for having poor grammar, please. If it hurts for you to read it then just don't post in response.

I was not belittling him. In fact, I just tried to advise him nicely, without an insult. Please excuse me if my comment came out as insulting.

Quantity doesn't mean much. Ask him how many games get played by NASA and other aerospace engineers/scientists...

I think KSP is a good game,

COD and Battlefield and all those big name FPS games and other games sell ten or hundred times as many games as KSP, but I'll easily rank KSP well above most of those games. KSP is quite unique and has that "x-factor" that I look for in games. I enjoy shooting virtual enemies in the face as much as the next guy, but it can get a bit repetitive. I'm a major sci-fi enthusiast and space travel has always fascinated me. I also like a good brain workout, so KSP is perfect for me as it does all this while occasionally making me giggle. ^_^
