It was, right from the git-go. I stole the image from Wiki Commons... it's supposed to be the Windows "Black Screen of Death". :lol:

It's a pair of virtual particles continuously appearing near the event horizon.
One particle flyes to you, and you see a white dot (a white line — due to relativistic effects), another one is consumed by the black hole.

Btw this means that black hole fills almost all picture, except of the upper left corner. It's huge.

I reckon its even money that if in the deep future we manage to explore a black hole "up close" we find that it actually does have a little command prompt in the top left. I mean, it would explain some things.
