New part mod - need's testing and I need some advice

I've made my first part for KSP.

It's a mk1-sized RTG that has the same power (and heat generation) properties as the the stock PB-NUK but the physical size, drag and heat tolerance properties of a Z1k battery pack...

The trouble with the stock RTG is that it's messy to bolt onto a craft and has a low max temp. This new part has low drag when mounted in-line with other mk1 parts and a more useable max temp.

Files: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zuxsylyekki5f6z/Foxster.rar?dl=0 - just drop the Foxster folder in the .rar file into /GameData

Could someone please test-drive it for me and see what they think?

Also, assuming I put in on Curse... I've taken a stock part and mangled it, is that OK? Do I need to worry abouts rights for a part mod?

Do you have any idea why RTG are shaped the way it is shaped? It's to create a thermo electric effect, which means it need to get rid of it's waste heat. Now what do you think would happen to an RTG if it  no longer had any fins to get rid of it's wasteheat? At best it would not be able to generate any significant amount of power, realsiticly it would start to melt

To answer your question: Yes. Why would I have any less of an idea than you?

That was why I used a texture that looks like a double ring of stacked rods with air gaps between them to act as the heat sink. Might not be a great rendering but this is an early test version.

Well assuming the sides at as a radiator and they have the same surface area and well insulated at the top and bottum, it might just work.

As long as you mention that you've taken the model of a Squad part (and that the original rights remain with Squad), i don't think you need to worry at all. It happens often that a stock parts is modded and published. I've done so myself several times.

Your mod fills a niche and can be usefull. Personally, i don't like RTG's. They seem an easy way out for electricity needs. Just stick several on a craft and you'll never have to worry about powershortages. I.R.L. they're in very short supply.
