On my first minmus landing, the moment Jebediah touched the mint ice cream, the hell kraken struck, and the altitude read 666666, and the screen turned completely black. One other time, I was doing the asteroid intercept in one of the scenarios when my craft merged with the asteroid and became a universal entity, and left the Kerbol system with a speed of about a trillion meters per second. So... Yes. The Kraken exists.

That is a common attack of the Kraken. Its pretty scary.

Thats just one kraken that died. There are still many, out in the void, occasionally coming out into the Kerbol system to fill their lungs with vacuum and eat ships.

Could be. Maybe there is an entire population of them in the universe. But why only one dead one?

Perhaps that Kraken taunted the original Magic Boulder?

Kraken definitely exists. Just today I launched my LV-N powered cruiser to take care of those space tourist missions to Mun and Minmus orbits. Everything went well but when I dumped last of the lifting rockets I noticed that craft tends to roll right when accelerating. Kraken mangled my ship. It is in one piece but bent in every direction possible. I don't know if this is better or worse than complete destruction.

More struts?

I don't believe in Kraken.

It would be sacrilege.

I believe that stuff will happen, and whatever you do to prevent stuff from happening, stuff will still happen.

But as long as we are aware that stuff will happen, and take proper preventive action, stuff is more likely to happen to someone else.

But my godess wouldn't be happy if I called Her Kraken ...

Yes, the Kraken is real. I have made an interplanetary craft in orbit. Never had a bug before. It twisted in unnatural ways, screaming with the voice of the crew into the inky void. Metal was torn to filaments, and fuel exploded everywhere.

The Kraken had come. And it was hungry. I then reloaded the quicksave I made as a precaution and it didn't return.

I docked this huge ass space ship with this wobbly looking space probe (my first ever attempt at docking mind you). I got those babies SUPER close together and then just figured they'd do their thing and join up . . . they were a bit misaligned mind you, but it seemed within reasonable tolerances.

Damn I wish I had a cam program running cause what happened next was amazing. The two objects started waltzing each other! Like the magnets at the dock ports where rotating around one another and "trying" to get perfectly lined up, but the other factors (like their different radial velocities, etc., etal.?) were messing this up so they were spinning against one another! I watched it with awe for about five minutes.

Then I remembered something I read in some "how to" thing somewhere and clicked "unset target" on the target probe's docking port: Presto! they merged into one! Only problem was, they merged all clipped and off-kilter and when I hit an RCS thruster or something the whole thing stretched into some godawful looking piece of modern art. The thing then proceeded to rip itself to pieces if memory serves.

But I hit escape and when I went back to the new space station, all was well.

So while I did vote Yes, there is a kracken, I think it is really more of a "placebo" effect within the game. If the game THINKS that it needs to send all the bits sending every which way, it will, even when it doesn't actually send them flying . . . . or something like that . . .

The Kraken is real! One day you could be minding your own business and the beast will reach up from the mysterious depths that it swims and pull you down... believe in the Kraken or not, if it’s your time, it’s your time. Arrrrrrrrrrr @_@!
