KSP player tries out Orbiter 2016!

Hello everybody! Today i tried out something different, because today i played Orbiter 2016! A free (but complacited to install) space flight simulator. Ok, i did in fact played this game before i played KSP. But i just flew around and i did not play the game properly untill 2014 or so. (and i quit playing Orbiter in 2013 or so) Fun thing! This is an absolute garbage video i made 3/4 years ago about me playing Orbiter! (i just loaded a scenario lol).

So, today i came back to play Orbiter,  but i knew how to play it properly, i did had the knowlege to get into orbit, but the spacecraft did not have enough fuel. This is the spacecraft i flew, its called the Delta-glider and it has a ridicilous amount of Delta-V! People claimed it could go to Mars and back!

I went on a suborbital flight from Kennedy Space Centre (Duh) to somewhere in the Atlantic ocean, but i did land back ''safe'', with a landing speed at 70m/s (wich is not safe but the DG did not explode sooooo...)

My Apogee was it 200 km, so i went into space, wich was cool. I was really happy about it. This thread/topic is going to be kind off mission report like, but since its not KSP, i wont post it to mission reports.

By the way! I have a fun challenge for you peeps! Try to make the Delta-Glider in KSP, it should not be too hard, since the Delta-Glider is just a normal SSTO spaceplane.

Orbiter is a nice game and the "birthgiver" of ksp. But i'm not into windows.

How did you manage to not achieve orbit with the delta glider ? It has >20km/s dV ... (i think)

I opened the game and it lost 1/5th of its fuel somehow. But the DG normally has 24 30km/s of dV. Strange, but i did make it into orbit later. It was just as easy in KSP with RSS and RO. But a little easier because you have less things to keep an eye on with the Delta Glider. (like the Delta-V stats and fuel pressure)

Got wine? You can run Orbiter on Linux/Mac with wine (I've done it.) It's a bit complicated but it works.

I just got Windows Bootcamp set up for No Man's Sky, so I may try running Orbiter in Windows to see how it performs.

Martin Schweiger created this in his free time and made it available for free; there's forums available where's there's been code re-writes, new graphic engines, and a host of add-ons. An according the his website, there's something new in the works, check it out: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/news.html
