Mapping a Circle to a Kopernicus Map?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'd like some help making my first Kopernicus world. It will have a circular depression some ways north of the equator, and I'm not sure how to draw it correctly on a projection so that it is circular in-game. I'd also like to know how to make a normal map of it, so that the crater can have a slope. All help is appreciated!

I remembered I have this plugin for Photoshop that automatically warps rectangular images to fit onto a sphere. I think I can use that to make it work. I'm going to have to make my own texture, but it shouldn't be hard due to the nature of the moon.

After I make the texture, I need to make a normal map for it. Then it should be ready for a Kopernicus config.

Howdy. I'm also now starting on the world-making scene and also doing my own hand-made planet texture(s). The normal map needs to be grayscale, with white for highest elevation and black for lowest. Then in Kopernicus you can amplify the scale of deformity to make the peaks and crater incredibly tall & deep.

No matter what I do, the Spherical Mapping Corrector doesn't make the crater circular. I have, however, found out that Photoshop itself has a function to turn the texture into an actual sphere which I can manipulate and draw proper circles on. Unfortunately, I have not found a way to turn the sphere back into a flat texture map. If you know how to do this, please teach me.

If you can create a flat, rectangle texture map, then use the 3d plugin to view it on a sphere, and it looks good, you can always open your  history window in PS and just delete the state that says "New Shape from Layer" and it will revert back to a flat,  rectangle. Then you can make edits and repeat if you need to.  That's how I do it.

If you need more help just pm

Now that I have finished updating my mods for a while,  I have some free time,  so any help you need let me know
