KSP Engineer Redux for 1.2?

Hi Guys,

Im new here but ive had KSP for a few months and the most useful mod i ever found seemed to be the KSP Engineer Redux mod as it gave me so much information on the rockets i had and the trajectory and stuff does anyone know if this is being patched for 1.2 yet or if there is a similar mod that i might be able to use? I love this mod so much and 1.2 is hurting without it.

It's being worked on. 1.2 changed some things regarding fuel flow that are causing problems with the mod. I also heard somewhere that some of the orbital mechanics maths had new domains (0, 2pi => -pi, pi) which would cause issues with KER

I have faith that the mod dev is working on it, we just have to be patient, bugs are hard to fix and can take any amount of time.

I'm not aware of any problems with the orbital calculations caused by domain changes, there was a problem caused by a change of one value from degrees to radians but that actually happened in the previous KSP version and is fixed in the version in cybutek's GitHub repo and also in the updated dev version I released yesterday.

Well that's good!

Possible source of orbital calculation changes: Both G and g0 have had their values altered slightly in 1.2, not sure if KER has these figures directly in the source code or if it pulls them from the game itself.

For reference: KSP now uses 9.80665 and 6.67408e-11 instead of 9.81 and 6.674e-11 for gravity equations.

I believe the orbital stuff should all be using the grav parameter from the body being orbited rather than gand I don't think it directly uses G anywhere, but I will check.  The deltaV code has used 9.80665 for gfor a while (it was changed in the KSP engine code a few versions ago but only changed everywhere else in 1.2).

It's not even the deltaV that I really want, I just want a solid TWR indicator, and not have to pull out a pencil and paper every time I tweak my rocket.  So much hinges on getting a decent TWR, and the alternative try/revert to VAB/try again is such a grind.

I know Mech Jeb has one, but that mod isn't ready either.

Um dude, there's a SUPER stable pre-release available for 1.2.

It works for the most part, at least the build I have. The only thing it really seems to have trouble with from my experience is calculating Delta-V if some fuel is being "flowed" from external fuel tanks. That is, a rocket where all the tanks are on the centerline, I think it works fine, but if you stick some tanks on the side and use a fuel line to feed them to the centerline, the current version doesn't recognize them, or do calculations for them. It recognizes their weight, but not the fuel they give you.

I suggest you check whether you are running the latest dev version.  The deltaV calculations were updated in version 1.1.2.5p (and another update has been released since then).  See my sig for a link to the relevant post in the KER thread...

Edit: In KSP 1.2.x, you don't need fuel lines for fuel to flow from side tanks unless there is a part in-between that has crossfeed disabled.  If you have a vessel that you think is calculating wrong with version 1.1.2.6p then please post in the KER thread giving the craft file, a screenshot of the BuildEngineer window in "All Stages" mode (or the flight engineer window showing all the deltaV readouts) and a description of what you think is wrong.  An output_log.txt file after doing a verbose simulation log (in the settings in the VAB or a special readout in the Misc section for in flight) could also be a help, especially if you use mod parts...

Edit 2: Also, @TheRagingIrishman, this thread was a month old when you posted, it should really have been left to slip quietly into history, except for, perhaps, the OP returning to say thanks for the answers...

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
