C2Z3 - A Virus Simulator

Guest

Recommended Posts

So today I started getting interested with the idea of making a virus simulation.  I opened up Unity, created a new 2D project, and several hours later ended up with this:

White - Uninfected | Yellow - infected | Red - Dead

So, yeah.  This is what happens when I get bored.

OK, so I've made a few improvements to it, and it's starting to come together.  You can now change settings and reload the simulation without closing and reopening.

And you can hide the UI

These screenshots were also taken with the new screenshot function.  (F1 to take screenshot, F2 to hide the UI, just like KSP)

I also did some back-end cleanups as well.

A few hours? That'd take me multiple weeks to make! GOOD JOB! :)

Is there a chance you'd post a download?

Yeah, I'm planning to, but I want to make it a little more stable first.

@CliftonM When you post a download will it be source code or just compiled?

Just compiled at the moment.  I don't want to release a source until I'm sure I don't want to do anything else with it.

Just now, Mr. Quark said:

@CliftonM You should make a feature where a thing could be infected by a virus if x amount of pixels close!

Well, the spreadability is actually a spread radius, and I am going to add an advanced menu to manually change that.

And the ability to change shape!

Possibly.  I honestly don't know yet because the sprites are mostly just placeholders.

Also, I have good news!

I'm finally ready to make a release.  I just spent the last two hours developing a website (really just sub-directory of my website) for this.

On this page there is a link to a download.  It is still an early build mind you.

Oh, also, I've added the ability to customize background color.  Simply put a hex color into the Hex field of the settings ini file, which is located under C2Z3_Data.  It is a plain text file, so all you need to do is open it up in Notepad.

Reminds me of Wa-Tor.

Spoiler

Way back when; Having read the (original) article, I wrote up a version in Fortran IV, run on an HP-1000 computer (21-MX series) with Tektronix color terminal. Sharks feeding on Mackerel feeding on Squid feeding on Shrimp feeding on clouds of Plankton.
