KSP performance on a Mac?

Hey Kerbanauts,

Ive been thinking about getting a mac computer next year sometime, and I was wondering how KSP runs on them.

Is it really laggy, or is it fairly high performance?

Computers Im considering are the Mac mini or the Macbook Pro.

Cheers,

Dom :)

I\'ve found 0.16 much faster than 0.15 on my early-2010 Macbook pro (2.66 Core2Duo, 4GB Ram, GeForce 9600GT 256MB). Very smooth most of the time, only time it slows down is if I have my external monitor connected, then the resolution gets too high to play smoothly without switching down to a lower resolution in full-screen mode.

I use a 27' iMac with a 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM & it has the ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256 MB RAM, running 10.7.4. I get serious, serious lag with largish rockets. these aren\'t super large but designed for Kerbal-Minimus-Mun-Kerbal missions, so it does lift a bit fuel into orbit. The lag is so bad it certainly interferes with control, and I lose the altitude indicator. Once I discard the early stages I try to use ESC and go to the space centre to pick the flight up again, that restores the altitude, cause it\'s damn hard to land without it !

Started with 0.15, now on 0.16 and the same problems. Of course the rockets are larger in 0.16 but with fewer engines at one time, don\'t need 12 solid fuel units to help get of the ground anymore !

I\'ve played with the various settings without much change, using a window or full screen also not a big change, activity monitor says that the CPU is nailed at 99-100%; any further suggestions welcomed.

Seems to me like it\'s your graphics card. I run nearly the same setup, but with a GeForce 8800 GX with 512 mb and it runs nicely.

Lower your settings too :P

My 2.8 i7 iMac lags with ships over 100 parts and during launch/landing when the Kerbin horizon is in the frame. If I look straight down or straight up, the FPS levels off at a much higher rate. I\'ve tried messing with the graphical options, but nothing seems to help. Other than that, performance has been pretty good.
