Full-size Imperial Star Destroyer

It's not totally finished, there are still some details to work out, but it's a full-scale Star Destroyer made using TweakScale and Hangar Extender. I may add lasers and hangars in the future, and will probably add some hidden hover engines, but for now this giant will have to suffice. Even Hangar Extender wasn't big enough for the thing, so I had to edit the settings. Read the description on KerbalX for complete instructions and download.

Enjoy.

Nice, sounds like you just about nailed it in terms of size!  http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_I-class_Star_Destroyer

I'd be interested to see some up-close shots if any are available!  Or whenever it's ready for close-ups :P   According to the wiki, in the SW universe it would have a full crew compliment of almost 47,000!  It's hard to imagine that sort of scale in KSP   :o

Gee, it's almost like I made the ship in a small scale, took the ratio of it's size to the real thing, and carefully tweaked each individual part's scale to be as close to that ratio as possible!

Currently I don't have any crew modules in it, but I'll do some close-ups soon. I'm planning on using the Hangar mod to add places for 72 TIE fighters in the future. And, of course, now I feel obligated to make a full size Tantive IV as well.

Here are some close-ups as requested:

Beautiful! Makes me wanna work on my mod again, it's based on Real Ships but will feature gigantic (paintable) parts for starship construction, complete with fusion/antimatter reactors, complex energy systems and cooling requirements.

By the way ... didn't know Hanger Extender can be modified. This makes me happy.

Tip: you can modify the load/unload & pack/unpack in physics.cfg now. See this post:

Ooh, nice! I kind of like the way it looks like it's coming out of hyperspace now though.

It's more like "decloaking" because you already know it's there ;-)

Anyway, for future space battles it's nice, not only to see the enemy, but to have it functional as well. Can imagine with such a size it will pretty large on the screen even at 25km distance. One can always install BDA but ... with the size of your ship ... what about stock missiles :-)

Idea: create a missile with one or two powerful rocket engines at the back, one that produces a lot of heat on the front. If the missile isn't going too fast, the one on the front will heat up the part you're aiming at until it explodes. Would need some developing but you get the idea.

You know, it's funny. In my head, I realize that thing's stupidly huge. But LOOKING at it... It doesn't look big enough, somehow, to hold 72 tie fighters... @.@

TIE Fighters are pretty small. Think of it this way: The Runway is 70 m wide. A TIE Fighter is about 7 m wide. So you could fit about 9 TIEs side to side in a runway-width hangar, and the hangar can be rectangular to fit 9x8=72 TIEs and hey--that's how many fighters a Star Destroyer typically has, and it fits on a tiny portion of the runway! That's kind of packed, though, so if you've got a few more hangars on the two sides there's plenty of room for a squadron. Maybe you should make a few scale TIE Fighters to fly around next to it with while I don't get around to it! I still have to get to the Tantive IV and don't have time for it right now i have an essay i was supposed to be doing these past two weeks and i definitely wasn't playing Undertale all day today , but this ship will eventually turn into a fleet or two. (Geez, the Rebel spaceships are so weirdly shaped...:/)
