What happens to Intake air in the Resources Tab?

change false to true, and you should be able to see it.

for the vtol case, it seems like it may be relevant... but for " Planes and SSTOs [that] fly to super high altitude, " its not relevant so much.

Flameout at high altitude is very very rarely due to insufficient "IntakeAir" resource, and is just due to a flameout limit. The jets will produce less and less thrust as they get in thinner air, no matter how much of the IntakeAir resource you have (ie, no matter how much you intake spam). Also as they exceed a certain speed, their thrust will also start to drop. Their thrust drops and drops, and past a certain threshold, you get combustion failure, and its not because you ran out of "IntakeAir".

However, when you start to have flameouts and asymmetric thrust (assuming it starts symmetric, but then becomes asymmetric as the engines spool up), then that is likely an IntakeAir deficiency, and this display should help see the problem before it strikes.

So you're right to want it for VTOL craft, but I don't miss it at all for SSTOs.
