hello if anyone could please help. this has been a persistent problem for me. in version 1.13 you cant reenter kerban atmosphere too steep or you will eather burn up or hit the ground. in version 1.22 i can fly straight up for 11Mm (or past the mun) and come straight back down and slow down no problem, am i not seeing a setting or something? it was way more realistic in 1.13 but 1.22 has alot of new features. (All tests were conducted with no mods) any info would be handy. i really wanna try out the new stuff. (the wheels for sure) but am saddened by this apparent change.

Drag and heat have been tinkered with in the last version or two, making re-entry less hazardous than it was for a while. If you want, though, when starting a new save you can customize the difficulty options and increase e-entry heat to make it more like it used to be.

Meanwhile, welcome to the forum :D , and your question has been moved to the Gameplay Questions subforum.

Hmm, did not notice re-entry being much "easier" than it was before. I mean, it could be. It's not like it's especially hard with stock settings, even with a terrible descent profile as long as you're equipped properly... but I can also say that you can definitely burn your ship up real good if you underestimate it, too.

The game difficulty settings have a slider for Re-Entry heating, ranging from 0% to 120%. You can change this setting in the ESC menu if you go to Settings > Difficulty Options. Maybe you accidentially moved this slider. Otherwise you can try to pull it up to max and see if it feels better for you.

Re-entry heat is much more subject to part location now - if you have a mk1 inline cockpit a few modules back from the front, it's pretty hard to blow up,  but even the tank like mk3 gets hot on a normal re-entry due to being at the front.
