EVE vs SVE?

Recommended Posts

SVE Gives you the option to choose between different texture packs depending on the capability of your system so it could be worth a try with the low res texture pack to see how you go.  Alternatively there is Sci-Fi Visual Enhancements, which is specifically designed to run on potato's:

Basically with EVE, SVE the volumetric clouds are the most computer hungry, so you could try playing around with the settings and reducing/removing some effects.  I think if you press Alt-Zero in game it will bring up the configuration tab and allow you to mess around with it a little.

Hope that helps!

For what I know, SVE uses EVE but plays with the settings and makes it more interesting. It may take more resources from your computer, but you can lower the settings in volumetric clouds, and maybe disable he ocean shaders that come with Scatterer.

SVE is a set of configs and textures for EVE and Scatterer.  You can choose low, medium, or high detail textures depending how boss your computer is - I don't know how the low compares to standard EVE but the high-res will melt a potato.  No problems on a 1070 here though.

Is SVE an add-on to EVE?

Kinda.

SVE uses its own textures and cfgs, but it uses the EVE plugin for its effects.

SVE is more performance hungry than EVE because of a few reasons:

Default EVE is just a very basic example of what it's capable of and doesn't do anything special.  SVE utilizes nearly every effect the plugin is capable of including dust storms and snow. This will obviously cause a drop in performance.

SVE's textures are higher resolution. Higher resolution = Less FPS. There is a medium and low version if your rig can't handle the high res. The low version might actually run faster than default EVE but the texture resolution is only 2k resulting in pretty poor visuals, but it's better than nothing for some people.

And lastly, SVE depends on scatterer for best results. This is really the biggest performance hog. However, turning off certain features help with performance, namely the ocean shaders.

There really is no better way to find out what will work for you than to try it yourself. Good luck!
