StrandedonEarth
You’d think they’d go back to the MkI “chain it down”. Unless they couldn’t find a volunteer to go do it

Well, it WOULD explain the strange barge behavior that we saw earlier, possibly including the "destination: CLASSIFIED" thing. Delay
Well, they lost it due to the inevitabilites of nature, not due to technical failure. Still a 100% success in my opinion.

I think this was the furthest downrange recovery they have attempted, which means more travel time on the open seas, which are not known to be forgiving to the ambitions of humans. Another reason for a system that always does RTLS in my opinion.

Wouldn't that turn FH completely redundant? The only reason they are using their ASDS in the first place is because they want to use their first stage to the full potential, which means that returning the center core to Cape is - as mentioned in the webcasts - no longer an option. Sure, Super Heavy will do it, but that'll still take a few years. Edited April 15, 2019 by Delay Super Heavy is designed to always perform RTLS

In fact, they probably WILL do that with SH- but if their P2P plans are still around, the launch site won't always be on land.

RCgothic
I remember the sea looked pretty rough after the landing. Not surprised nobody could board to make safe if octagrabber wasn't compatible. Still sad though. This the first loss of a block 5?
