Im trying to stay away from mods. I want to be able to do everything manually. gives me more satisfaction that way Docking has become pretty easy to me and it seems to give alot of people fits... that video helps tremendously.. ( should have known math was involved) im going to give it a shot tonight when I am done working

If you're doing it by eye and by the seat of your pants, in stock (like I do) -- then all you end up having to do is trade some fuel for some extra accuracy. It's only if you choose to be OCD about efficiency that it gets really hard.

Knowing the maths (/physics)  of the situations wrote face helps.  But you don't need to solve all the equations to have the benefit of this knowledge.

An example it's how @Streetwind explain that the rocket equation,  used to calculate deltaV budget,  end up to be deltaV=a*b*c and a is constant,  b is quasi-constant so you mostly need to care about c.  Link

Most of the time you just need to know two thing: (1) I can do what I want with what I have available to the task?  (2)changing 'that thing'  will make my task easier to do,  harder to do or makes no difference.

A general idea of the maths is often enough to answer this questions.

Nah.  May be complex,  time consuming and even risky but usually not hard.

They say that the smartest thing to do, for pretty much anything you're doing, would be to use all the tools at your disposal. That being said, I just don't. My only mod is Kerbal Alarm Clock (which I don't even think of as a mod). I've made countless rockets, and I couldn't tell you the TWR or Delta v of a single one of them. Not that that's something to brag about. Most would say that was a stupid way to play, but I don't care. I learned to play this game through simple trial and error (and a lot of it). I'm still learning, of course, and probably always will be, but I've gotten to where I consider myself to be pretty good at it. Or at least good enough.

I don't reuse rockets, and I'm always trying to make them a bit better or a bit smaller. As a consequence, just because something worked last time doesn't mean it's going to work this time. I'm not always sure I'm going to make it home. I find it incredibly exciting. Will I make it? Will I have to mount a rescue? Who knows? It's gonna be fun to find out, though. One of the best things about is that it's always a very near thing. I either just make it or just miss it. Either way, it makes me very happy to know I was just about right on with what I would need.

Mods are a personal choice, obviously, but I really enjoy the stock game.

Two things, though. If I had found this forum a year ago, it would've made life much easier.

And everytime I see a screenshot with KER visible, I can't help but think "God, would I love to have all that information". Pure stubbornness keeps me from doing it.
