Off topic but I just wanna say somethings about this - Are you having it plutonium or uranium based? If uranium, I think if you have a high enough critical mass of very pure U-235, you can basically have one chunk slam into another chunk - not many other fancy physics required. Plutonium - pretty much all of them are implosion based. High explosives are used to push a plutonium sphere into a critical mass (the point where a runaway nuclear reaction occurs - for plutonium they did this by having a super high density at the time of explosion). Has to be VERY precise though. If it isn't, no boom. Don't understand why you need tungsten though...

I make uranium-235/projectile based nuke, because they are the simple ones. You need tungsten to surround the U-235 and keep the neutrons from flying everywhere, too keep the fission reaction going.

Yes, I know you can just google this but I just wanted to say that here. Also... Why?? Are you trying to prove something to said person? or is it unrelated?

She said she can do something impressive to hurt me, so, well, i decided to partially joke around a bit and said i can do it back, with a nuke.

Concern

Its only a diagram with a few numbers. It can't kill ya. And if i have the power to make them i will probably make an Orion out of it and i'll send y'all to space y'all.

That...

escalated quickly.

Also, you'd probably just get a dirty bomb.

Yeh

EDIT: She said i didn't have to. All that mini-controversey for nothing...

The only relationships that I have is with my computer, textbook, and library and I prefer it this way. I generally avoid social anything. :)

Lol, me too.

Ooook! Ill ask again!

I like this girl, i can tell the fact that shes a space nerd due to that ive seen hee wear NASA shirts, spaceshuttle shirts, etc.

How should i approach her?

Ask if she's been following the latest celestial event, like the upcoming 3200 Phaethon flyby, or spaceflight news like Elon's space car.

I originally wanted to just talk to her but now i also have to prove i can in fact design a nuclear bomb (yes, i can do that, although its very crude and extremely simple, so it's impossible for me to actually make and test them, especially without acces to Uranium, Tungsten and Explosives. Just in case you got a little worried there).

Oh. My. Seriously? IF I got some uranium I might be able to make one. Because I googled it and found a tutorial. You should have demonstrated how to make an AIM-9 with your phone camera. It is possible.

Ha! This thread needs a generous dose of cynicism.

BA, HUMBUG!

Damn, I'm far too negative. Probably as a result of only interacting with about 12-15 people total daily. Thankfully half of those are fellow nerds.

For me? Uh, maybe 4 people daily?

Back when I was homeschooling in Belgium, the only person aside from my parents that I talked to was my violin teacher

Not fun. For 18 months. I didn't even have fellow nerdlings to talk to :(

I keep imagining that conversation like this :D:

*Smiles* "I can do something impressive to hurt you."

*Smiles back* "I can make a nuclear bomb."

Actually, though, we had this one class where we could do anything we wanted to do as long as we showed progress so I decided to design a 1 man orbital rocket. It ended up being a pretty bad design, but it was better than nothing! I think that makes me the most experienced person in spacecraft design in my entire town, actually, when you consider I also designed several small moon impactor concepts and a few minimalist suborbital capsule and lifter designs...

Now if only there weren't these things called "laws" and "regulations," I might have tried my hand at building a small version of one of them...

My relationship with my computer is deteriorating

I have begun to realize that it is no longer the speedy machine I once thought it was, and now find myself ogling the superior i7 processors of my friends and their 16 to 32 GB's of RAM

Give your computer a chance. Don’t compare it with other machines, see it for what it is, an individual piece of hardware.

How many parts can it run?

Upwards of 100, there's a considerable FPS drop. At around 400 parts, it drops to 5 or 6, and takes about ten seconds to load large explosions (I.e, a 200 part ship colliding with a similar sized ship) :P

Well, you probably shouldn’t ask her if she wants to see your rocket, unless you managed to get into a conversation with her about model rockets...

E. or LEGO rockets

I was sad that I had a Pentium 100, until I met a man with a 486...
