It's been a while since I've added craft to this page, since I've been building craft that aren't exactly 1:1 replicas. But they deserve to be seen, so bear with me.

vIVzQoR.jpg

First off the block is my most recent creation, the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. The spiritual ancestor to the A-10, it was a mean machine that wasn't afraid of taking hits or giving them.

The next is a 1:1 replica of a craft that doesn't exist! This is the Grumman YF-28 Alleycat, a fictional super-Tomcat capable of post-stall maneuvers and STOL operations.

It is the craft which inspired @HB Stratos's Original Fighter Design Competion

Find it here: https://kerbalx.com/servo/Grumman-YF-28-Alleycat

And finally we have the P-51 which I built a while back. I debated putting it in here at the time, since it's not a proper 1:1, but since I'm bending the rules anyway, I may as well.

Watch out, Yamato, here comes the USS Johnston!

CLILGYl.png

This has been my labor of love for the past few weeks. A 1:1 WWII-era destroyer class that would ultimately boast 175 examples, with one serving until 2006. The Fletchers were "Destroyers which fought like a Battleship", packing five 5" guns on top of a load of torpedo tubes, secondary batteries, and AA guns.

MAFVoB8.png

It's feature complete too - the main turrets swivel and elevate, and her powerplant gets her to almost 30 knots top speed.

Be advised: 1705 parts means that it's not for the faint of FPS:

I have a request - make the MiG-105 "Spiral" spaceplane. It was cancelled fairly early on in the development to go down in history as the Soviet equivalent of the Dyna-soar.

Have you considered a 1:1 MiG-19PT with stock AA-2 Atoll missiles?

After a bit of a delay, yes.

The MiG-19ST has been added to the OP.

Don't mind the intakes under the wings... for a fairing-bodied craft, you have to hide intakes wherever you can, and this was the best solution.

Lockheed P-80E Shooting Star next?

That's turning out harder than expected - the shape of the nose is really difficult for a perfectionist like myself. It's too pointy to do with fuel tanks, but too oval-ly to do with fairings.

But in the vein of "things that were harder than expected," here's my belated contribution to the Apollo 50th anniversary: The EC-18B ARIA!

5WRNpWY.jpg

This one was a slight test of patience, or at least of my ability to deal with editor lag unlike any I've done before. It was definitely a learning experience for me, and will heavily inform any work I do with fairing-bodied airliners (or certain super large cargo planes... no comment) in the future. I'd like to shout out @Kronus_Aerospace for being very helpful/supportive/inspiring through the build process.

And another craft from the vault, which I forgot to upload here: The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk!

Download Link: https://kerbalx.com/servo/A-4-Skyhawk

Chronologically, I built this just after the Johnston, but didn't consider it a particularly impressive build at the time. It was well received on KerbalX, so I'm posting it here as well

Oh, also that skyhawk is FAB(ulous) . May I suggest an A-20 Boston?

Big upload today - as is my tradition, around New Years, I return to the craft that I've built in the past as a reflective exercise to appreciate how far I've come. This year is a big one for me.

Fdsw6HB.jpg

My New Years upload last year was the F-101 Voodoo (second from the right), to compliment the F-100 Super Sabre that I uploaded earlier that year (far right). This year, I wanted to continue the series, so I planned on doing the F-105 for this year. It turned out all right, but wasn't the special upgrade that I was hoping for to wrap up a year filled with my best craft yet. To complement my slower upload schedule (turns out, Junior year in aerospace engineering is tough), I decided to challenge myself to complete the Century Series in time for New Years Eve. Depending on which time zone you're in, I succeeded.

XPHIMUo.jpg

The Delta Dagger: https://kerbalx.com/servo/F-102-Delta-Dagger_2

This was the second to last one I did. It's a fine build, nothing too fancy. Proud of the intakes and the vertical stabilizer, though. Performance is a little lackluster, but about par for 1:1s with high part count.

QZOKK0z.jpg

F-104 Starfighter: https://kerbalx.com/servo/F-104-Starfighter_2

I was dreading this one, since it meant that I had to put out a craft to compare against @Kronus_Aerospace's fantastic Starfighter. I targeted a different niche with my replica, going for a lower-fidelity, but high-performance replica. It may not have every detail dead-on, but oh boy does it satisfy in terms of performance. Four panthers on a streamlined, low-part count body means that this thing absolutely nails the performance of the real thing. Cruises at high subsonic without burners, and can punch through to Mach 2 with the fires lit. It's maneuverable and fun to fly as well - and did I mention that it's only a hair over 200 parts? (If you can't tell, I'm very proud of this build)

My2BrQ1.jpg

The Republic F-105 Thunderchief: https://kerbalx.com/servo/F-105-Thunderchief_2

The craft that inspired this whole thing. The intakes were the hardest part, which is tough since they're the focus of the plane. I'm happy with my solution, but mainly since I think it's the best that I can do given the parts in the game currently. If only the basic fin didn't have those pegs on it... However, I am happy with how the fuselage turned out, especially the engine nozzle. It's so fun toggling the burner and watching the vanes open and close.

hkLTS7M.jpg

F-106 Delta Dart: https://kerbalx.com/servo/F-106-Delta-Dart_2

The finale of the Century Series, this was the second one that I built after the F-105. How well this came together really gave me faith that I would be able to knock out the other two in the next three days. The wing on this thing is my favorite part of it (with a close second going to the cockpit), primarily because of how refreshing it is to have a 60 degree delta wing with no funny business going on. Makes me happy.

Here's to another year of progress!

After probably the longest development period of any craft of mine yet, I finally present the Vought F8U Crusader!

This thing sat on the shelf in my SPH folder for over a year pending a solution to the unreliable docking of the variable-incidence wing. That solution was Bendy Tech, and it works great!

jxCOKbS.png

Looks good, flies better: with 2/3rds throttle and full flaps/wing extension, you can goose this thing along at 35m/s.

Hello from Japan! Mitsubishi's next-generation derivative of the F-16 was quite fun to build, and is even more fun to fly. This is the second craft I've released utilizing BendyTech to its full potential. Here, we have all-moving stabilators which are nigh-indestructible thanks to the tech's reliability.

Triple feature today, since I haven't been making announcements for craft that got their own forum post. I've got a craft coming that's not earned its own post, so I'm dumping all of them here

First off, for GameplayReviewUK's community challenge, I built the iconic Spirit of St. Louis

https://kerbalx.com/servo/Spirit-of-St-Louis

Next up, we have a long-form video on the Martin P6M Seaaster seaplane bomber which almost saw production.

https://kerbalx.com/servo/P6M-Seamaster

RPuxR8s.png

And lastly, we have Vought's odd duck carrier fighter - the F7U Cutlass

 https://kerbalx.com/servo/Vought-F7U-Cutlass

I'm thinking of taking a break once my next two projects (the F-111 and the PBY) and going in a direction that I haven't really gone before: low-ish (350 parts) replicas of non-American aircraft. The MiG-21, the Eurofighter, and maybe a British jet are on the table, but I'm open for suggestions

I have one request- I have yet to see a good 1:1 Nimitz class carrier. That would be really cool.:)

That's because Nimitz class carriers are well over 300m long. I do know of at least one person working on a stock one though, but it's a heavy Work In Progress with only the flight deck filled out. Even then, it's pushing 3000 parts.

If you want a 1:1 Nimitz, I recommend looking at boat-building parts mods. Here are a pair of Nimitz builds I found on KerbalX:

https://kerbalx.com/iplayksp/USS-NIMITZ-CVN-68

https://kerbalx.com/ImpossibleAviation/Aircraft-Carrier

If you look under the Mods tab on the KerbalX pages, it will tell you which mods you need, and a CKAN link to get them. You can also find a lot of other stock ships on KerbalX here. (Sort by part count for the biggest and best ones).

As a final note, I have built a 1:1 warship before, the destroyer USS Johnston, which clocks in at 117m and 1700 parts. A stock Nimitz would be three times bigger in every dimension, so ~27x more parts if you built it to the same detail.

Download link for it, because I'm shameless: https://kerbalx.com/servo/USS-Johnston

Hope this helps

A new build and an old build today!

q0yRN9u.jpg

First off, we have the absolutely iconic DC-3 airliner, which saw its greatest production runs as the C-47 Skytrain. This is a clean, low-part count build clocking in at a (relatively) easy 400 parts

Download link: https://kerbalx.com/servo/C-47-Skytrain

Secondly, we have the General Dynamics F-111A Aardvark, as featured in the second Flights of Fancy (which focuses on the program which developed the F-111A and its much less successful cousin, the F-111B Naval fighter)

HI0553a.jpg

The craft itself is a testament to the power of BendyTech, and was built in collaboration with @HB Stratos in a months-long tweaking and redesigning process. As a result, it's packed to the gills with pure stock mechanisms any player can enjoy, including:
* The Aardvark's swing wing

* Stock landing gear, using KLAW bearings
* The Aardvark's internal missile bay and swinging missile pylons (future armed variant from HB)

* All-moving elevons

* Full slats and flaps

* The Aardvark's iconic dump 'n burn function, which leaves a trail of flame behind the aircraft as fuel is dumped in afterburner

Download it here! https://kerbalx.com/servo/F-111A-Aardvark

It's been a while!

lNJaqyP.jpg

here's my return to the field of 1:1 replicas - ticking another build off the increasingly small "U.S. planes Servo hasn't built" list: the North American T-2 Buckeye.

It's an unassuming carrier trainer that gave nearly 50 years of service to the U.S. Navy, and was countless naval aviator's first "trap"

As far as the replica goes, it's a moderate 400 parts, but you get a easy-to-fly 1:1 replica that looks the part

I just was poking around on KerbalX, and noticed that there is a severe shortage of A-6 Intruder replicas. There are only three of them, plus one high quality and one very low quality EA-6B Prowler. So I'm requesting an A-6 Intruder, for obvious reasons. Also, a MiG-23 with Bendy-Tech swing-wings and landing gears would be neat to have, ever since the only other good MiG-23 on the site uses DLC and got broken by 1.7.3 (the swing wings flop like a fish out of water) and hasn't been updated since.

Fixed it saying MiG-28 instead of MiG-23
