Steam 1.3.0 Beta Removed

Recommended Posts

I too just discovered that I can no longer play 1.3!

Can I still run my 1.3 mods on 1.3.1? If not, then Steam has actually broken my game. Which isn't acceptable.

EDIT: Nope! It seems that KSP players on Steam can no longer play 1.3.0 or make use of mods for it. I just don't get it. Not all the mods I've got have been updated. If I want to play 1.3.0 again, I'll have to pay if I want it legally. Come on! I've already paid for it once!

Same here,

I tried 1.3.1 but my save file got corrupted. I tried editing the .sfs file, which got me halfway there, I can load my carreer mode and I have my money and science points. But all my probes/stations/ships are missing ;.; . Any ideas on how to get those back?

No great loss as ksp 1.3.0 has a multitude of bugs, not present in 1.3.1

And a tip for the future guys, if you want games that last longer than versions, Copy your whole KSP folder to a new location (not C preferably and not your desktop) you will then be able to carry on playing your ancient versions without any risk of auto updates ruining things.

KSP will quite happily run without steam, create a new shortcut to the new location and you're good to go

. Let steam update the steam  version, dump all the mods, because this game breaks most plugin based mods every update , and you can add the updated mods as they become available,  and all the while you 'll still be able to play your favorite version with your favorite mods.

Playing a modded game via steam is the province of new players only, most who've played a while have other arrangements

Yeah I used to do that, stopped doing that once older versions started getting backported in the steam betas. Did not quite expect the old version I was using to be revoked before I'd move on. Learned about assumptions.

Been playing since 0.13 in one way or another, but I guess I earned that :/.

Guess I'll rebuild a modded install (yes, outside of steamapps again) with a newer version once I have time to invest in a game from scratch...

Allright took me a while to make time to get back to this - Lisias' post, although slightly cryptic, solved it for me.

For anyone else who is also not familiar with this - you can download those manifests through steam, here's how to do it:

From steamdb.info get appID, depotID and manifestID for the thing you want

Open steam console by issuing the command through your browser

steam://nav/console

Had to do this in Firefox or edge/iexplore, Chrome did not allow for it.

Use the following console command:

download_depot <appID> <depotID> <manifestID>

Download is silent and was low speed for me, but it worked, steam downloaded the old version to:

%steampath%\steamapps\content\app_appID\depot_depotID\

It will tell you when it's done in the console, including the path.

Now copy it all from your steam directory, then copy your GameData and saves folders into your new old version's dir.

Also don't be like me and trust old versions to remain as betas in steam :-)
