How do you like that in the kerbal space program there was a new sandbox add-on to create your solar system and to place it in your game? You can open the game, go to the tab "create a solar system," put a star with the characteristics that you want and so for all the planets and satellites. This will be cool!!!

Biggest issue is getting to said star. Even at 1/10th the scale for distances between stars, and at the highest warp speed, you'd still be out a few real life years of wait time just to reach the nearest star. Better hope your power doesn't go out during that trip or you'll have to start all over!

Could be solved by a sort of very limited stock "FTL" drive.

In some sci-fi settings you can't jump in to close to a star due to the gravity well mucking withe engine/process or whatever.

That would keep players from abusing the drive by limiting them to only being able to jump from the far edge of one star's SOI to the far edge of another.

While a good idea, it would have to be a stand alone program which would export the newly created user content into the game.

While it wouldn't be impossible to do, is it something that would add to the game? If anything, I could see it being offered as a purchase type of DLC.
