Am4nn
I wanted a safer way to transfer crews between command pods than all that flying around. I saw other people use lander legs to dock and went from there. I used a 1.25m adapter as a target to grab onto while making sure to strut everything together. The 2 wing pieces were used to isolate a ladder and make a safe place to hang on. All EVAs were done without letting go.Rendezvous at 250kmDocking ever so slowlyFirst crew transferParty in the crew tankI'm really looking forward to .17 and the challenge of all the new planets and moons. sal_vager
Very impressive Am4nn, orbital rendezvous is a good skill to have and you seem to have mastered it
christheman200
I made my own video on this, well two actually, first one was on launching my space station and second was on docking!Check it out! And please remember to like, comment and subscribe as it would mean a lot to me (I'm a very new channel)
Ki11aWi11
How long does it take to line up for grabbing the other vessel, I can get my two craft with in arms length of each other but they all ways spin away when I try to dock them together
sal_vager
Ki11aWi11, some add-ons can counteract the spin, such as the Lazor, or you might just get lucky. One way to stop the spin though is to briefly go to 5x warp and back to normal speed, rotation is not preserved when on rails. comham
Man, once we get proper docking in we're going to laugh at the complicated improvisations we thought up. like before lander legs, and you had to use fins.I suppose that's the best thing about this game, it allows improvisation. Tommygun
Am4nn, great job.How do you get the Kerbals to do 90 degree turns on the ladders? My Kerbals seem to just get stuck on one and wont go.
Am4nn
Frequently switching ships just long enough to turn on the s.a.s is the way I dealt with the rotation issue.Tommygun- As far as turning goes the kerbals seem to figure it out for themselves. Just make sure the ladders are at the same lvl and when you get to an intersection just hit right (D) or left (A) and they usually turn onto the new ladder. You can turn a 360 at any intersection. Testing ladders pre-launch is important too.
Nibb31
I achieved a similar rendez-vous and docking yesterday. I had done it in the past, with 0.14, but the spacecraft would spin out of control as soon as they collided (something to do with mesh collisions). I don't know if something has changed in the code, but this time, the docking was much more gentle and stable. And of course, do not warp of switch to the tracking station.I used a Dynasat Adapter to maintain the attitude on the space station target. It works ok as long as you don't have any crewable parts on it (crew tank, airlocks, empty pods, etc...), but you can fit ladders to the space station for EVA. Commander Zoom
Am4nn, as I said on the pictures thread, that's amazing.
