Having an issue with n3h3miah's KEES - anyone with familiarity help?

i just happened across this video (

 

And silly me this whole time I thought the trays were meant to attach to the outside of the white piece.  My problem is in what you see @N3h3mia do at the beginning as he stores all of the parts inside of it.

I have KIS and KAS installed but can get nothing similar to that window to open. If I try to use the inventory, it can't fit nearly the necessary parts - and I can find no option to edit its storage.  In fact, the visual nature of most of the windows he opens is unfamiliar to me.

 

What is it that I am missing?  I'm so lost.  Specifically i don't have an 'edit container' button. I have other options he doesn't have there, but nothing for edit container.

The video relates to a very early version of the mod by the looks of it, and the functionality has changed since then. There is some written instructions on the OP for the current version that Mecripp links to above, in a "Reveal Hidden Contents" section.

You don't need the white part at all. You now drag the stuff you need from the VAB inventory to the vessel when you build it. You can drag them to any KAS space. I think originally the white part was specifically required to carry the experiments, but now it's just additional KAS space.

Yes, the original KEES was written using KAS, a long long time ago.  Since then KAS has changed significantly and split into KIS and KAS.

@Fergrim These days KEES just relies on KIS, and "the white part" is just a KIS container. You can use any KIS container for KEES these days, even the space under the seats in the capsule! Please read the KIS Manual for details on how to use the current version.  An overview of how to use KEES can be found in the in-game KSPedia.
