Builder. I specialise in helicopters and planes that fly really well. It takes a lot of trial and error to get the balance sorted, but it's worth it those first few seconds after takeoff when you realise you've cracked it. The CoG and CoL indicators in 0.17 will speed things up a lot.

Both go hand in hand. I mostly enjoy the process of getting a rocket/crew where I want them (or sometimes where I dont want them) which generally involves both building and flying a rocket (or several rockets) :)

Well it's a spectrum, which is why Both is so common.

For me it's, um, Both. But more on the building side.

Also note that some people are more Mission Control oriented. So Building and Piloting are more of a means to an end.

Both. It feels like I've exhausted things to do in 0.16 now, with rendezvous, some eight crafts landed within a 300m radius on minimus, mapped minimus, mun and kerbin by satelite, did some dockings with lander-leg grappling hooks, orbital crew change, kraken-fighting, round the globe sub-orbital flights and so on... Now it's just building huge ships for use in .17 and watching Scott Manleys awsome vids on interplanetary missions.

With the game in it's current state, I'm kind of neither.

I like building, but the lack of very basic tools like COG indicators (and center of thrust), a mass calculator and the current wobbly, weak parts, eventually get me very frustrated when trying to perfect a design. Having to use add-ons for basic functions like power and communication that are often incompatible with each other...

Well it's an alpha game, so issues are expected, but I can't say that building is fun, it has it's moments, but it's often a frustration. Eventually that will all be resolved, I'm sure.

As far as flying, if I can rebuild a design enough times to find the proper responsive yet stable configuration, then I have some fun with SPH designs, but the slow flight and very long times to get anywhere under acceleration (can't warp) make flying planes quite boring after a few minutes. VAB designs are almost all mechjeb flights for me, there's just no enjoyment in the mind-numbingly repetitive task of putting a ship in orbit. Been there, done that.

I end up spending more time modding parts to work properly or create a needed function, then I do actually playing KSP. But as I said, all of that will likely eventually be developed as stock.

There is so much potential in this game, I certainly intend to stick around until it is released, and like most of you, I've already purchased it in it's alpha state, to support Squad in their efforts.

But, in the end, I'm neither a builder nor a pilot....I'm a frustrated explorer, patiently waiting for the next release.

Unlike (it often seems) most players, I don't just try to cram together the biggest thing my computer will run, so I guess I'm not a builder. Then again, even if a ship gets where I wanted it, I will keep tinkering with it until it's optimized for its job, so maybe I am a builder. Then again, I don't see the point of building something unless I'm going to fly it somewhere, so I guess I am a pilot. And I never use Mechjeb because it feels like cheating (NOT TRYING TO START THAT ARGUMENT AGAIN, I'm just sayin'... ), which is pilotish. So I guess I'm more pilot than builder.

(Note that I never said I was a GOOD pilot. That's a separate question. :) )

I'd have to say builder, even though I do really enjoy the whole flying thing. Getting an orbits eccentricity down to 0.00001 appeals to my OCD :P

Building lets me make insane things like this...

I think it was 11 hours realtime from design start to driving up to Munbase Alpha. It was a good day :D

Edit: I think you are a good pilot because landing this thing must f...ng difficult!
