Need a mod recommendation

I play on PC, and so far, with no mods.  My next mission is to construct a Mun orbital station, and I plan to use it primarily as a lander refueling platform to mine Mun for science.  I struggle with knowing the location of the various biomes.  I launch the game through Steam.  I don't know how to actually find, and add, a mod, but would like one that helps me identify the biomes, if such a thing exists.

Second, looking at the archives in my research station, I'm not at all sure how to read which ones I've gotten, and which I still need.  Example below:  I'm guessing I did NOT get the Pressure Scan from the Highlands?  Then why is it on the list?

last thing:  If I collect my science in a lander, and then bring it to the station I get LESS value if I beam it home, right?  So I should set about collecting as much as possible, then shuttle it home as a big package?  How will I transfer the science data from the Scientist, to the lander, to the station, and finally to the returning capsule?  I ask because in a previous mission, I lacked the fuel to get off Mun and into orbit.  I had to EVA them, and the lander fell back and was destroyed.  Once I rescued and got them safely home, I found that I lost most of the science that was collected on that mission.  I'm not clear what I did wrong, but want to avoid it in the future.

The picture below is the station I will be assembling.  I need to house 15 Kerbals to complete the mission, and the mobile lab is more for RP than function.

Have you tried using the KerbNet functionality on all the advanced probe cores? That shows you the biomes as you pass over them.

It's on the list because you did the experiment, but never returned the results back to KSC.

To know which ones you still need, you need a list of all the experiments you can perform, and a list of all the biomes on the CB. You can find such lists on the wiki, or various players have made spreadsheets.

No, technically you get five times more science by processing it in a lab on a station. But it takes forever. And you can always get two copies -- one to process in a lab and the other to bring home. Or three copies. One to transmit, one to process, and one to recover at KSC.

There are two ways of transferring experiments. One is using the "collect data" button on a Science Container. The other is to have a Kerbal on EVA get close to the pod that contains the experiments, open the context menu for the container, and click the "Take Data" button. Those are the only two ways.

You understand that you do not actually have to have 15 Kerbals on board? You just need 15 seats.

To add to @bewing's bit, the Surface Scanning Module will also tell you which biome you're in via the Part Action Menu.  If you want to know for mapping purposes in a way that stores the information for future reference, then SCANsat is a general winner.  Mods usually come with installation instructions.

I was not aware of KerbNet, but will use the better core on my lander then.  thanks for that tip.

So I collect my surface sample at the Mun Pole, and got in the lander.  At that point, the data was tied to the lander.  When he bailed out to EVA into orbit for rescue, I should have taken the data from the lander, but it was left behind at that point?

The mission calls for 3 pilots and 3 scientists, but 15 seats.  I'm going to send up the core hitchhiker module first, with the 6 Kerbals.  then I'll send the solar array with relay.  Finally the Science processing unit and fuel tanks at separate flights.  4 total to get it built, but the mission will technically be complete with the first launch (assuming I can build enough dV to get it up in the first place).

Yup.
