Challenge, DLC, and reposting of challenge

Recommended Posts

Considering that T2/Squad really want to take many functions from mods into DLC:

1) Are we allow to repost challenges that allows mod but exclude DLC?

2) If a future T2 new agreement on this forum require "stock" includes DLC, would we be able to do so then?

Hmm, no response... does this actually means T2 is thinking to allow point 2?

I will be honest, I know that in the old days, the answer for 1) is a big no, so we do not need to address point 2.

However, if I want to sell something for extra money, but the community on my forum say no, I would definitely try to get them to agree with some lawyer speak and tell my mods not to interfere...

I don't think anybody cares really, making history is excluded from a lot if challenges on grounds of fairness, so as not to exclude the haves from the have nots.

Which renders the question completely pointless

Not quite groundless if Take2/squad want to make it so they become more friendly to "haves" I mean we just have another change on the Terms of Conditions.

Now in the past (and current), I know it's just not allowed to remake a running challenge if one exist, especially an identical one but have some slight change in conditions. However, if Take2 want to make it more Steam/DLC focus, they would also rein in community act of trying to exclude DLC buyers. I mean look at steam Discussion: So many people like DLC over mods, because they cannot make heads and tails of modding a game. Fairness is subjective

Ultimately Squad/T2 is the Overlord. All that matter is to have a guideline on this forum whether such reposting is allowed.

And I will be honest, at the grand scheme, if Squad either allowed or enforce such concept, it will greatly reflect the direction they want the community to be like on their official forum.

T2 / Terms / Eula/ etc have literally NOTHING to do with user-generated challenges.

The rule to not create a new challenge that's identical to a current one is nothing more than a courtesy rule set in place by the moderators of this forum, who do not work for T2 or Squad (There may have been influence by Squad members, but AFAIK their only stake in the matter of forum rules is going to be anything to do with litigation).  You're not violating any part of the EULA or any laws by creating any challenge.

There is nothing that restricts mod or DLC usage in any challenges.  You can make a challenge that requires both DLCs and a laundry list of mods if you want.  Just don't expect a lot of participation.  Anything being prohibited in a challenge is solely up to the creator of the challenge, as mentioned for fairness, and has precisely nothing to T2 / Squad.  The challenge is yours to create as long as it's possible to do.

....why do you think it does?  Perhaps you need to read the submission guide.

Who knows. Maybe I played enough games where Publishers actively shutdown or sabatoge Community efforts to restore the "vanilla" or "legacy" once the publishers/developers themselves do it, or feels it eats into their profit. And they do it even on the forums.

And yes, it breaks the community in the worse way: the old guard leave, but new blood can come in and be brainwashed.

Granted, KSP is a small indie game, not a multiplayer or MMO game, and T2 is not EA or Blizz.

Nobody knows your past, and you made no indication that this is what you saw in other environments, which is why you're asking.

There's been no reason to believe that T2 or Squad will suddenly start strictly regulating challenges.  If you have seen evidence of that, you need to cite that instead of just assuming that 1. Everyone knows your experience, and 2. T2/Squad is going to do that for literally no reason.

If you're worried about breaking the community, maybe not presume actions of the people in charge of the community just because you saw it elsewhere.  Might also not be a good idea to start inferring actions on T2's part just because nobody answered your baseless question.

^ what he said and otherwise we can all just as easily migrate to reddit and do it in our own way there anyway, so there is litterally nothing they could do in the first place

I like it a lot that in actual fact they don't do this kind of thing and this actively contributes to the great vibe of this forum and the people it attracts and cultivates
