Been A While - Some Help On Updates etc..

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've sat down to pick up a campaign from a year or two ago. I've noticed quite a few changes since. Long story short... I had CKAN installed way back when with a bunch of mods and a lot appears to no longer work.... image here: https://prnt.sc/nzncir 

1) Have these mods been updated or are there replacements for them?

2) I noticed in the game options on Steam that KSP now has cloud saving? Do we need to back up the whole folder and copy/paste it between different machines now or is this automatic?

Need to re-familiarize myself with a bunch of things again.

Mechjeb, Kerbal Alarm Clock, Community Resource Pack & Community Category Kit are all working fine in 1.7.1 + BG for me.  I'm sure they'll all be updated at some time, but the latest versions seem to be working fine.   I can't give you an answer for the others.  Your best bet might be to check on the individual mod threads.

Welcome back!   Funny how the robotic parts are bringing so many of us old farts out of the woodwork like roaches

1) When I asked the same question a week ago, I was told that most mods that say they're for 1.5 or 1.6 work fine with 1.7+  I can't vouch for that as I've been forcing myself to play vanilla to start with, to learn the changes to the basic mechanics.

2)  This happens the same way it does for every other game with Steam cloud saving.  It just happens.  If it doesn't work, you get a message next time you start a game that there's a difference between the local and cloud files, and which would you rather use?

3)  Yeah, much has changed.  If you haven't played in a year or 2, then you're back in 1.3-ish.  The biggest changes I've notices are

• KER is no longer necessary.  There are dV and TWR readouts for all situations in the editors and in flight, plus all sorts of orbit and location info in flight as well.  Precise Node has also become stock.
• The amount of available science early in a career has been cut WAY back, thus vastly increasing the grind.  You can now only get per-biome science on the ground, no longer in flight or low orbit.  This has been fractionally replaced with the new deployable surface science and the ROCs.  Problem there is 1) it's nowhere near enough to replace what was lost, 2) the deployable science only lasts about 1 week before the Kraken eats it, and 3) the ROCs are hard to get.  It's easier to get to Minmus than Mun but Minmus has very few.  Mun has a lot but you need more of a rocket and thus more pre-existing tech.  Which is harder to get because of the lack of per-biome things like even crew reports.

Regarding the cloud sync - does it only sync the save or does it save everything (ckan, mods, saves, etc)?

I have noticed some of the items working in 1.7.1 even though its outdated - interesting.  So I can remove KER and Precision node at this time then? I'll give it a go and see.

It looks mod related - though I'm not sure why the stock game wasn't working before. Just adding them back in, in groups. Looks like I lost some ships though that had KER  or other parts on them.

I still get per-biome EVA reports from low orbit, but that was never a thing with crew reports. But I was getting some per-biome science while flying, I think it was crew reports and/or temp reports. I haven’t unlocked the gravioli detector yet to test that
