Star Trek Picard discussion thread

So, I just finished watching the first episode of the new Star Trek series, Picard. I thought it was quite good - I was half expecting a lens-flare riddled explosion-fest like Discovery, but they seem to have mostly avoided that, perhaps because Patrick Stewart is on the team.

I'd like to hear the first impressions of everyone else. Discuss away!

i kind of thought it felt like trek again, after so many things that did not. 

its full of subtle easter eggs. for example when dahj sees the vision of picard the first time, THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!

tbh it was what i was expecting... but not as bad as i feared it could be. It's of course full of the poorly thought out plots and bad pseudoscience that Discovery was notorious for. Like... pretty much everything involving AI is amateurish. And the explanations about what the girl is and how she was created was eye roll. And the fight scene where she was destroyed was also facepalm level dumb writing. They were rapidfire beaming down troops to kill the girl and beaming them up to save them in the case of the guy that got knocked off the side of the steps... but no one thought to beam her up into a holding cell? (although the fight scene was pretty cool if you dont think about that other stuff!)

but look.... I really want to try and like it so I'll be doing my best to not think about the storyline or plot holes or nonsense pseudoscience concepts, and see if I can enjoy it on some level.

P.S. thanks for making the thread OP \o/! I'm interested to see what people think too!

i do think picard was jumping to conclusions a little too quickly, which i felt was out of character. but i guess that was done to move the plot along. otherwise the entire episode would have been picard second guessing himself and we would have to wait till next episode to get the action sequence.
