bsalis
I'm interested in seeing how the Scenarios system effects the Challenges. Hoping to see more of "Take this scenario file and do X". With everything set in place, the playing field is perfectly even. Looking forward to seeing a Scenario version of Disasteroid for a start. Kosmo-not
No. Every time he asks for a release date, the thread gets locked. It's another indicator that people don't do their research before posting.

Killerblonde
Getting back on topic...what do you guys think about having a space station, (or ship or whatever,) that continuously zips around Kerbin and say Duna. Essentially, the ship flings around one body, is flung to the other body, and then goes back to the first in a continuous cycle. An orbit around two planets essentially, with minimal fuel required for infrequent adjustments. This is possible in real life, (as in we did the maths and it's possible... can't find the article though.)Thoughts?

Killerblonde
How long does it take to complete one cycle? No idea, sorry. But it's awhile... the craft zips around the star for most of its duration, only taking passes by Mars/Duna and Earth/Kerbin maybe once or twice every 'year'. But it's a close pass, just too high a velocity to achieve orbit without aerocapture or a retro burn, (which would screw up its trajectory anyway.) Trebuchet-Launch
How long are their orbital periods? He's basically saying "Let's put a station in an integer resonance with Duna's synodic period, as seen from Kerbin". The math should be fairly straightforward after that, as the synodic period is going to be Sy(Ker/Dun) = (P(Ker) * P(Dun))/ |(1/(P(Ker) - P(Dun)))| where Sy(Ker/Dun) is the synodic period of the Kerbin/Duna system, P(Ker) is the orbital period of Kerbin, and P(Dun) is the orbital period of Duna.Granted, you should still have a decent stock of fuel for course corrections on the cycler, because passing by Duna and Kerbin is going to throw off the orbit a bit each time and you probably won't have a perfect pair of repeating slingshots (where the Kerbin flyby compensates for the Duna flyby and vice versa). AncientAstronaut
Are you guys trying to figure out an Aldrin Cycler for Kerbin - Duna - Kerbin?Wow. That's some good stuff. If anyone is seriously planning that, I will help.
AlexL
If the dev team do go for a kraken memorial, which they dont have to, I think that it should just be a dark shadow moving below the surface of Jools water moon.
vexx32
The simplest and easiest way to get a once-per-year flyby of each planet with minimal messing up of the orbit would be to orbit clockwise around Kerbol to have maximum velocity relative to each of the planets and be as close to them as possible. I like that idea XD since the Kraken likes deep space, Jool's orbit is getting out there, so that would definitely be a nice place for it to call home =

Shadownailshot
I hope I never have to think about the Kraken again. I'll remember it in my nightmares, and that's quite enough for me! It tore to many ships apart, and I lost to many Kerbals (they were dumb anyway, always screaming whenever I tapped the throttle).P.S. STAY ON TOPIC. NO RELEASE DATE CRAP. I seriously don't want the third thread locked. Then I have to go look for the fourth, and we're only on page five.

Shadownailshot
I think the first thing I'm gonna do is wipe my persistance files, set up a good base on the moon, and then head to Duna with an orbital craft to scout out good landing spots. Then I'll attempt a powered landing with a second craft, and maybe have an orbital recovery craft come shortly behind it to recover the crew. I'm not sure about this whole going there, landing, and coming back in one ship deal. I'll take the easy way out first.
Pleborian
im going for the one ship deal, but I plan on using kethane mining stations on each of the planets so I can go from one to the other with no need to ever end the flight, its going to be interesting
