SpaceFace545 Posted April 10, 2020 Share Posted April 10, 2020 I think that many of you can agree with me in saying that KSP2 won't be able to run on our laptops and will need a pretty beefy computer to run, I as well as other people will switch to consoles to actually be able to comfortably play the game but that taps into another issue, mods. KSP players usually play with mods let that be kerbal engineer, mechjeb, or a parts and gameplay expansion, we use mods and console will not let us do that. I can't dock or rendezvous without mechjeb let alone land on anything other than the Mun. I play Farming Simulator and in the last two games they implemented an in-game modhub what has curated mods what you can download in-game. This also allows the devs of the game to choose which mods are more stable or thoughtful and won't break the game. I think this solution to mods on consoles will be streamlined and simple. I play Cities Skyline and I love the fact you can enable, disable, search for, and download mods from within the game. A central hub for all mods be a boon for both PC and console players. If there is little difference between the two versions, mods maybe interchangeable between the two. (Consoles usually get ignored when it comes to mods and hacks.) That could change, but considering the physics LOD system, new unity and DX versions alongside a complete rebuild i sincerely doubt it will. TechYESCity is in Australia and has some fantastic videos for extreme budget builds. A console is going to be 200-400, and then online is going to be 60 bucks, and the game is going to be another 60. Plus you're going to need a computer to do anything else that's not gaming; spending 320 bucks on a inferior machine that will not play KSP1 or 2 well (The base models are garbage, and the KSP1 port is jank AF) just strikes me as odd when for another few hundred you can blow them out of the water performance wise, save money with sales, and have a platform that can be upgraded instead of tossing it out every few years. About the only thing i can agree on here is that if they decide to port it to consoles, a more portable mod format will be REQUIRED to do so. This came up on a discussion about mods in KSP1 not too long ago, and it was the first thing i pointed out. Sony and Microsoft will not allow people to just plunk loose files into their games, a system similar to Bethesda's ESP/ESM archives would be needed to even have a chance at getting it past them.
