Monitor / TV for the new XBOX? (Suggestions, please)

My 13y.o. and I have an agreement: he saves up half the money for the new XBOX Series X, and my Christmas gift to him will be the rest of the money for the purchase, along with a new TV / Monitor.

Here's the rub: I'm so out of the loop on TVs / Monitors that I don't even know where to start.  The last TV I bought was a 40" 1080p Visio in 2015 (for his current XBOX).

He wants to be able to run 4k content.  We don't want anything too big for the space (basement gameroom).

Appreciate any suggestions!

Not to be snarky - but yeah, duh.

Because I don't really trust industry-sponsored review(s / ers) it's nice to get recommendations from people who study up this stuff and know what they're talking about
