AE-FF2 Airstream Protective Shell - Truss Structure does not disappear

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm sure I've seen a youtube ksp tutorial video some time ago, about someone was using an AE-FF2 "truss structure" with "stack separators"  to release in orbit some relays,
and as soon as he was activate the separator stage, the upper part of the truss structure magically disappeared.
That is the behavior I'm expecting to see with my relays launcher too.

But my "truss structure upper part" doesn't disappear after the relative separator is detached, if not when I immediately quicksave and quickload.
Here's a video that demonstrate:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/f66q7upl4nkikaf/2020-11-05 16-37-21.mkv?dl=0

It isn't a severe problem as I can F5 and F9, but I'd like to understand why I don't see the truss vanishes when I separate the satellite.
I've also built another couple of simple test vessels and I can always replicate the mentioned behavior, even when using AE-FF1.

So how is on your pc? Can you confirm or disprove what I'm talking about? Does your truss structure disappear immediately or only after a save/load?

Hmm, my truss structure doesn’t disappear, nor have I ever expected it to or seen anything to suggest that it is supposed to.

In all actuality, why should it?

Can you say what video it was that you saw it disappearing like that?

The truss structure isn't supposed to disappear until everything detaches from it. You still have a decoupler attached to it, therefore it will not disappear. Either use a stack separator, or turn your decoupler around.

Additionally, the truss structure is just decorative. Your satellites can fly right through it.

my truss already mounts all stack separators.
anyway I've just noticed that the upper truss part disappear not when I separate the 1st relay but the 2nd one, and so on.
So nevermind is all ok, the truss disappear correctly. I was confused. Sorry.

The weird is "why it vanishes after an F5/F9 action"?
Is also weird the behavior in the youtube video. its truss vanishes when he detach the upper sat.

that's correct thanks, but ugly to see it. I prefer the "magical disintegration" instead of to see a sat "fly through".
