I havent worked on this mod in months, but I did recently separate Estrela Dobre and Excelsior from the rest of the mod. At the moment, yes, it replaces the kerbol system. BUT you can have the stars use the cache file of a different, deformed body! The cache is basically how an object is shaped in map view, and is usually the same as the heightmap of an object.
