Make the parking brake on-screen toggle function mappable to a controller input

Recommended Posts

It's 2021 and I'm playing KSP 1.11.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 (I still love it :))

But there still doesn't seem to be any way to map the on screen toggle brakes function to a controller input.  I know about using an action group as a workaround.  But, I'm playing through a new career and haven't unlocked action groups yet.  This seems like a significant and long outstanding oversight.

I can access the toggle brakes function from the default controls, keyboard and mouse.  But, since there's no way to map this function to a button on a controller, I have no choice but to take my hands off my controller of choice (i'm using a joystick) and click on an on screen button.

Too late and/or not worth the effort to implement this?

I agree (and it used to be).  As a workaround, there is a very small mod which lets you double tap B to set the brakes:

You could change the b key to a controller button in the code (I think this is possible but never tried as pure keyboard and mouse man myself!) or assign the controller button to the B key in game/controller settings etc
