KSP2 suggestion: The ability to group engines in the editor such that they will be handled as a single engine graphically in the staging stack in flight and a single PAW to control all as one.

Engine clusters in the double digits are getting more common in today's rockets and clusters with double digits of engines make the staging part of the screen too busy and adjusting gimbal and thrust difficult.  The tradeoff would be if the user decides to roll them into one engine in the editor then it will succeed or fail as a unit (i.e. overheating will take out the entire cluster; same with other physics failures)

I recall talk of changing rocket structures to add engine plates that carried multiple engines as a single cluster.

the function could be part of that part making them look like a single engine in the editor.  It would need some smarts to work out stats for the cluster but  Higher tech versions could enable interesting extra functions like throttle patterns or thrust vectoring.

How does rotation work then since they will all gimbal together in the same direction?

Good point.  Yaw/Pitch rotations would work fine as they should gimbal in the same direction in those cases.  Does the Poodle do roll-gimbal even though it has multiple engine bells?  There aren't a lot of use cases where roll via main engines is required as rolls typically require the lowest torque of all rotations.
