ksp2 beta/alpha testing?

Just wondering if there was a way to sign up for alpha or beta testing of the game.

Apply for a job at Take 2 Interactive, Private Division, or Intercept Games. Assuming they are hiring. Make sure you apply for a QA job of course but even then you may not get on the team testing KSP2.

Be prepared to move if you don't live near them.

Less tongue-in-cheek, there is no open beta for KSP2 and there likely won't be one. Like most other big-studio games, it will come out as one complete full package.

...that will then be patched for years to come.

The only games who tend to have open betas are MMO style games where you need to test many players on the servers at once. 
Yes you have early access games like KSP 1 where the game is released as an alpha or beta and you can buy it.

Alternatively, apply for a job at Intercept, if qualified. I guarantee you, everyone on the team is testing the game.

That aside, open alpha tests are almost never a thing anymore. There are times when small focus groups are invited when decisions need to be made, but especially for smaller games, it's usually just internal testing. (Early access scenarios notwithstanding.)

Beta tests are more common, but even then, for KSP2, I don't think there will be a public beta test unless it's a pre-order bonus. In which case, you'd be getting it two-four months before release, so it's not really worth it. Might as well just wait for the full release.

Realistically, your best bet for getting to play the game early is if Intercept will have a booth at a game show event. E3 is a possibility. Gamescom and PAX Prime are also good options if the game is targeting late fall or early winter release.
