Interplanetary ship blueprint.

Recommended Posts

.Hi I just found this blueprint for a interplanetary ship! I wonder would this be a more viable way to get to the inner planets in the game? It can build a ship in 6 launches also the interplanetary ship crew quarters can be launched Apollo Saturn style. For the engine section two of the out board engines would be the Kerbin departure stage and the center would be coming back from duna or a planet with similar return delta v also a kerbal would EVA in LKO to place fuel lines to feed to the center stage from the out rigger fuel tanks. For the life of me I can t reenter the tundra starship or have patience to do the oberth effect like Matt lowne oh is this a viable option?K2Wfqbp.png

I am someone who just does one launch spacecraft to other planets, so my response might not be entirely what you are looking for.

If you are going to a place like Duna, Dres, Gilly, easy planets etc., then you can just use one craft. Maybe something like Tylo, Eve, and Eeloo could use something like the photo above. If you are going for realism, then it would be best to use modular travel crafts for interplanetary missions. Other than that, I recommend launching one craft to the planet of your choice.

I’ll be playing on career mode so I highly doubt that would be feasible.

If you are playing on career mode, yes, launch multiple modules! Less risk of failure hauling a big beast into space, and probably more efficient. I didn't know that you were playing on career mode.

Is this a much lower risk on going to duna? The habitat would tether to a spent rocket stage like the concept. Also would carry rover components and use persistent rotation mod for role play purposes.

It is entirely feasible.  In fact, there is a challenge dedicated specifically to hitting all 9 areas in 9 launches.  I've done, in no order:

  • LKO
  • Mun
  • Minmus
  • Duna/Ike
  • Dres
  • Eeloo
  • Moho

Each if those bullets was a single launch, with lander, and return.  I'm working on Eve...but her atmosphere is maddening.  But to your point, on a career Science game, it is feasible.
