[v0.1]Space Shuttle Vanguard

It reminds me of it, but the looks are probably about the only similarities...

I remember having to use full hover during a rolling takeoff. It was fun though, not much different than taking the titanic through one of those red bull air races.

This is suprisingly remarkable on the Mun, impacted going 700 or so m/s and rather than 'Oh god they\'re gonna blow' it was 'OH god they skipped off the Mun\'s surface and are going round for another orbit.'

As fun as that is, I think it\'s going to be gone when we get deployable landing gear. So enjoy it while it lasts!

It becomes a game of 'will we survive, if we do, which part will we lose this time round!' which is rather fun

One small Critique of it is that it\'d be nice if it were just slightly smaller, just so it\'d fit within your fairings/shrouds.

Well, it was designed to fit on top of a rocket as it does now. But, I might make a bigger shuttle in the future with a payload bay big enough to fit this smaller shuttle.

The wings and, iirc the tail, if they were just ever so slightly smaller, would be able to fit on your engine fairing base and have the fairings and nosecone fairing surrounding it. So it\'d still be on the top of a rocket, but just protected with fairings.

Of course, that would do nothing for the current KSP build. The aerodynamics of the plane would still be at play, and destabilize it all the same.

This is quite good. I actually did some in-atmosphere work before taking the aircraft orbital. It performed surprisingly well during the initial launch. I used JordanCox2\'s Intrepid V vehicle to launch it (I ended up having to use 6 solids instead of 2. I don\'t know why it works, but it does.

One thing though: I would seriously love some RCS on this thing.

I worry about how that would play with the drag model, but yes, I\'d like some too.

Although, RCS is really broken for rotation currently, so maybe after 0.13.1.

The parts for the shuttle ended up in the Decals tab of the VAB.

Lol. My method of getting into space is slightly op.

In the middle of a Kerbin orbit I decided going to the Mun would be more fun.

Welp, they were doomed to crash. Ran out of fuel before Munar orbit was achieved.

And then...

WHAT THE JEB

The shuttle hit the Munar surface, and bounced off! It lost a few all of it\'s wings in the process, but what fun!

This is the orbital map after I bounced off the Munar surface;
