Retractable heat shield.

@Cloakedwand72it just looks like a normal heat shield - but there are at least three mods that have something which resemble what you say you want:

first is a module manager tweak to allow the stock inflatable heat shield to deflate:

 

You will have to dig deep into this, but there are some great inflatable heat shields (KADEPT) in Tokamak Refurbished Parts:

One that I am working on (and should really just get off the vacuum pot and release)

Has at least one that might fit the bill
