Now I Understand My Coworker

Consider this a follow up to a previous thread.... this one: 

 

I now believe I understand his motives.

 

He simply loves attention from others. His 'beeps' (never stopped, but were much less when I paid him more attention) are basically a cry.... meaning 'Hello! I am here! Interact with me or speak with me!'

So while not normal to do so daily... his underlying motive.... is a common one. To be known and close to others 

I have drawn away from him as of late since he decided to make a flirty joke toward me.

He joked that we were more than friends in a suggestive manner, and when he saw the utter rejection on my face he shifted to "We're brothers!" 

It is not uncommon for him to make jokes of the same nature (saying everyone in a room is one of his dates for example) with others who don't mind him joking about stuff that in actuality could easily land someone in the HR office at risk of losing their job.

Basically since I am aware of his past history with abuse by a priest, I get kind of wary when he becomes jokey flirty with me.
