Like, we don't get porkchop plots until the Kerbals gain an understanding of orbital mechanics. And they get more and more precise as the game progresses because the Kerbals develop better methods of computation, going from hand-calculations to analog computers to mainframes, etc. I know kOS and I think MechJeb do curtail some functionality based on progression when in career mode. Many mods do this and we know KSP does it for sure. I can't remember when porkchops kick in for MechJeb, maybe with an Tracking Center upgrade along with maneuvernodes, not sure. Like, once you've visited both moons the interplanetary mission planner comes up, and once you'd built two colonies on two planets the interstellar intercept UI tutorial and planner tools come up. 5 hours ago, t_v said: Additionally, when transferring to a moon you can just drag the maneuver along your orbit at will, whereas for interplanetary you have to click “next orbit” about 500 times if you are significantly off the transfer window and adjust the angle of the burn so that it still faces prograde/retrograde relative to the planet. Having the ability to just slide a maneuver along the orbit of the body you are orbiting could help a lot more than a transfer window timer, by giving people an understanding of how timing and angles affect transfers. Thats what Im thinking with the split-screen mission planner/ transfer calculator. If you clicked around on the porkchop side it would move the intercept path around, and if you dragged either the origin planet or target planet around its orbit both the path and the selection on the porkchop would move so you could see the results both ways. Those of us who come after never really understand how difficult it was for those who pioneered. (Thus, I agree with you that incrementality would be a good gameplay feature!)
