Survey Contracts

I keep getting contracts that are monetarily and reputably worth it. But the problem is that the plane flight takes 30 mins or so real time even with 4x speed. Then when I get there it doesn’t always work. What tips might help me work these out better?

There are lots of different kinds of contracts. I just skip those.

Survey contracts that require some action "above 19,000" meters can be done from orbit. Launch a vessel in a polar orbit and eventually it will pass within the distance from the survey waypoint to be completed. In space above 70km you can use faster warp. and it takes less time. NOTE: survey missions that specify "flying high" cannot be completed in this way and the airplane is your only choice.
