Some side missions needs to be more clear. I don't know what to do.

Recommended Posts

I got mission to get lander can crew report from Kerbin Kapy Rock.

Mission doesn't tell what is Kapy Rock

It doesn't make any marking of it to tracking station

It doesn't tell how to find it.

Conclusion:

Tracking station marking was made by mission but i didn't see it.

If there were info at mission about added marking, i could have tried to search it harder.

For me it shows a yellow dot on kerbin marking the location. Getting there though....

Yeah, I’m wondering about that second part.  The science missions are OK, but it feels like the progression is completely shot.  There’s only a few experiments, they trickle out data at best, then it gives you a mission to fly halfway across the planet when you probably only have the base level plane parts.

You did not track the mission then. Cuz it does show it

Spoiler

far southeast from KSC

Actually it did show it but i didn't find it because i didn't orientate Kerbin correctly at map view. Still missions needs better descriptions, it should have said it added location to map to body of kerbin, then i would have watched it more carefully.

Yeah, agree it's really hard since you either build an odd plane with a lander can and fly forever, or save/revert a ton of times to get the decent and reentry right to land exactly there.

My experience about reason why its hard:

Because it is at home, i trust too much on parachutes. Parachutes cannot be targeted. If you think Kerbin to be another planet without atmosphere, you know what you need to do to get to target. Parachutes is just last minute thing to save dV.

When trying to land at target at heavy gravity planet, you need to bring lot of dV to give you time to target location. At real life this all would be controlled by AI and computers but we have to control vessel so we need to bring more fuel to counter what we lack in calculation speed and accuracy. We can't calculate that stuff in real time, we can use eyes. This is why most accurate orbital descent trajectory aiming for target, for human players is pretty vertical, we need to stay at vacuum as long as possible to eliminate variable of atmosphere drag,  re-entry heating and re-entry heating decoupler bug(Decouplers seems to be exploding at re-entry).

The Lil Chunker mission requires me to "land a vessel on Minmus with a current mass over 200 tons."

What's "current mass?" How does it differ from normal mass? And 200 tons? Isn't that a bit extreme?

Current mass means the mass it has when it touches down. And ya 200 tons is a bit extreme for  a measly 28 science since you need tier 3 to accomplish moving that kind of mass around.

I tried to do that mission, encountered so many bugs on the way that mass of 200tons was not major problem doing that mission :D

Struts symmetry was huge problem. Symmetry overally is huge porblem when trying to build multi engine system with radially attached tanks, when each radially attached tank has multiple engines. Not only that, but when each radially attached tanks with multiple engines has multiple stages, i felt pain in my brain.

I got stuck on that one for so long.  I was sure it meant you need your vehicle to start off with 200 tons, and eventually land on Minmus.  I did that, and it never gave me the mission pass so I just assumed it was bugging.  Getting 200 tons to the surface is ridiculous for how early that missions comes up.  But thank you for clarifying.
